Seldom do I leave such a bad review, but room nr 31 was simply terrible. On the 3rd floor without a lift and with a narrow staircase, hard to climb with a lot of luggage. You c'd hear footsteps and ceiling creaking from the room above. This room is really a small single size, but used as a double. There is a large, very uncomfortable bed taking the entire tiny space so it's literally impossible to move around the room and leaving absolutely no space for luggage and personal belongins to unpack. Wall chandeliers and the only chair are in the way and the TV hangs on the wrong side of the wall - you can't watch it. The worst was the heat, constant noise and poor quality mattresses. There was no aircon and with only 1 small window closed (facing the main boulevard, loud 24 hrs) the room was hot and stuffy, whereas with the window open it was way too loud and food-smelly from the restaurant downstairs, and there was a church ringing a few times per hour all day and night. The fan placed in the room was only an obstacle in the way so we had to put it inside the wardrobe. The mattress was way too soft - I weigh 60kg so the mattresses shouldn't sink under my body, but it did and it felt like sleeping in a hammock - I kept waking up trying to find more even space in vain. The toilet brush and the radiator by the toilet were filthy disgusting. The only light switch in the bathroom activated a loud, automatic humidity extractor every time you switched the light on and the noise stayed for about 15 min each time. As for the positives - the restaurant serves decent meals and we were surprised to find our room tidied up by staff right after the 1st night...
Read moreThe rooms were nice if you ordered a deluxe room. The non-deluxe room one of our friends got and it was like a broom cupboard. They all had two single beds even though it was a deluxe double room. They were nice and clean with a modern bathroom. The towels are lightweight, thinner, cheap style towels but still do the job. Don't bother using the safe as you could just pick it up and walk out with the safe. They aren't secured to anything. The breakfast area is nice with a good selection of meat and fruits and pastries. The bar downstairs is good. The food when we ordered took way longer than it should have and we asked for them to cancel our order and magically it appeared. By then we had been waiting more than 30 minutes for some simple hot chips. When we had dinner the night before with drinks, the bar staff did add-on additional items to our bill, so just be prepared to cross check what you actually ordered and received versus what you're being charged for. Check in was ok and you need to pay the guest tourist tax which is only a few euros per person. If you have a rental car, there are garages. You can park your rental car in and use your room key to access the garage doors. They are outside of the boom gate parking area.
They also do not have a lift so if you have heavy bags you will need to carry them up the stairs. Just take note they are curved stairs so sometimes the inside step is very short.
Google Maps doesn't really send you to the right location depending on which side of town you are...
Read moreGreat Location, Decent Stay — Poor Front Desk Experience
The hotel is in a great location, and the rooms are basic but clean—suitable for a short stay. There’s no lift, fridge, or microwave, but parking is available, which was a plus.
However, our overall experience was soured by the front desk staff’s rude and unprofessional behavior, especially the staff member on duty in the morning.
We arrived shortly after 10 PM and found the front desk unattended. While this can be understandable in a small town, other similar places usually provide clear late check-in instructions. In our case, no email or message was received. Thankfully, a helpful bartender nearby contacted someone who was able to get us our key. The staff member who arrived claimed he had sent a message through Booking.com and implied the issue was on booking .com’s end-a dismissive and condescending response.
The next morning, another staff member (extremely rude, and confrontational) failed to acknowledge any lapse on their part. Instead, he blamed us entirely and insisted the situation was “solved” and “not a problem,” while dismissing our concerns and trying to dictate how we should feel about the experience. His tone and manners are very poor .
While the hotel itself is decent, the front desk service needs serious improvement in professionalism and guest communication—especially when handling...
