Motel Füssen in the Allgäu — Hotel in Füssen

Motel Fuessen, on the third floor of a 4 storey commercial complex - above an ethnic bar/restaurant and then a poolroom above - 8 mins stroll from the centre of the allstatdt, has a 'pop-up' feel about it.||This is further reinforced by the weird formula for gaining access to the place via booking number keycode and keydrop.(and note that owner/mgr a mere "15 mins away" by phone!) all this not adequately explained in the booking notes.||||It was an inauspicious beginning, especially as when we arrived, the system was non functioning and we stood desperately outside without a mobile phone to contact said manager and only gained entry by good fortune. That being, the owner was on the premises (unusual after 11am) and was exiting as we scratched our heads in despond. Fortunately she spoke quite good english.||From that moment on, everything went ... uphill!||||staying 2 nights, we were 'promoted' to a clean, spacious 2 bedroom apt where the only noise was the odd muffled tumbling of billiard balls (but only to 10.30pm) and early morning road noise from the main drag in and out of Fuessen.|| Nothing outrageous and we would hardly have known we were sharing with other guests but for the morning breakfast call.||||Beds were roomy and firm, pillows their usual euro-sus selves but there was some choice. ||Bathroom was also excellent with modern fittings and glassdoor shower.||Flat screen tv provided the usual sattelite 300 stations ... in german (no BBC).||||Our room lacked the standard provision of soaps and shampoo and hairdryer but latter was supplied immediately on request and we put the former down to the fact that we had been happily 'bumped' to a room not expecting us.||||All rooms (limited number) appeared well appointed.||And once we were inside, security was superb, and we had the run of the place including access to breakfast room, refrigerator and microwave AND tea a & coffe machine!, and the wifi hotspot there which made up for the scratchy reception in the room.||||Every part of the fabulous town from shops to supermarkets to historical layering was within walking distance.||We even enjoyed the nearby ice hockey rink.||||Manager and cleaning staff were always helpful and friendly, and we left wishing for an...

We stayed overnight after visiting Neuschwanstein Castle. I agree with previous reviews there is no reception but we had arranged a meeting time and there was someone there to let us in. If there had been any problems it would have been difficult to find someone to discuss these with until the restaurant opened.The room was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable which is what we were most interested in as this was only an overnight stopover. We dined in the restaurant downstairs and the food was well priced and due to it being winter we were happy to be able to have access to a restaurant without needing transport to get to as the accommodation is out of the town. Breakfast was included and this was also in the restaurant downstairs and provided us with a good quality of choice. It is a mixed bag as accommodation, being over a pool room and with an indoor sporting complex as part of the building. We did not find this to be a problem and the accommodation area is secure and separate from other areas. As every year going skiing with the son's.||This year leaving from Leverkusen and on the way to Solden. Decided for a stopover in Fussen and found Motel Füssen. Was already late but suddenly the owner called me if we would still arrive. Nice personal touch. ||Getting there wa easy, sufficient parking. Got a 4 persons bedroom with large double beds. Matras excellent, all clean. Why do not more hotels put vynil on the floor instead of the most of the time dreadfull carpet. Thea was ok after the 7h drive. Large clean bathroom.||After good sleep we went for Breakfast; amazing amount of food, fresh bread, cheese, ham, eggs, home made marmelade, free coffee, excellent.||Really a brilliant stopover!||Value for Money, excellent!||||Txs for the...
