I was traveling to Frankfurt for business and I picked this hotel, because it was one of the few that still had availability as the 2024 Eurocup approached (with several matches being held in Frankfurt).||Overall, the Living Hotel has a modern and boutique-y feel. The room itself was nice with a large screen TV, a queen size bed, a desk and desk chair, a curved wing-back chair, some sort of couch/bench, hair dryer, safe, and large stall shower with both handheld and rainforest shower heads. The hotel provided bottles of hand-soap and skin lotion by the bathroom sink, and the shower had a bottle that claimed to be a shampoo and bodywash in one. Some people might be put off by the lack of a ‘dedicated’ shampoo, and no conditioner at all (but it was fine with me). ||The room also had a kitchen with dishes, silverware, cups, stove top, cookware, refrigerator (which included two bottles of beer and a chocolate bar that I’m told are all complimentary), microwave, cook top, etc. There was also a small counter with stools by the kitchen area. |Although the room had a bit of an awkward layout, there was plenty of closet and storage space. However, even with all the lights turned on, I thought that the room was a bit dark, and it would make it difficult if you were doing any sort of serious work at the desk.||However, the room had no clock (a pet peeve of mine), and most concerning was that the door did not have any sort of dead-bolt, chain, or latch that provides that extra level of comfort about safety. Considering how new and modern the hotel felt, I was very surprised about this gap. ||In addition to the issue about securing the door, there were other disappointments. My colleagues and I all thought that the breakfast fell far-short of what we normally see available at European hotels, and the cost of 19-euros made it even less appealing. At check-in, for the first time in all my travels, I was asked to key-in information about myself (e.g address) directly into the computer. I was not thrilled that this included a field for date of birth, which I may have inadvertently mis-keyed :) ||Immediately after checking-in I was sent an invoice for my entire stay. Apparently, this hotel bills you at the start of your stay, not at the end. And, any incidentals (like breakfast) are then paid for separately, and not part of your overall bill. So, instead of one-charge from the hotel, I ended-up with several charges.||The hotel is in a nice residential area. But, this means that there really aren’t any nearby restaurant options. So, you need to plan your meals accordingly, as the only food you can get from the hotel is breakfast. As others have noted, there is a grocery store right next door. Hotel rooms are only the lower two floors of the building, so don’t expect much in terms of views.||The staff was friendly and helpful, and all parts of the hotel seemed to be well-maintained and clean.||All things considered, this hotel would probably not be one of my first choices when I need to return...
Read moreMy experience with everything was very seamless, clean, and private. The room looked exactly as it did in the pictures and had all the amenities as claimed. The kitchen utensils were a bit inconvenient due to their size making it difficult to efficiently cook/cut certain things, but you can definitely still cook with them and I still appreciate the utensils being there for use. The bed was big and comfortable, nearly between an American queen and king size. The pillows were fluffy at first and then had a tendency to flatten out but I didn't mind that just something that might be important to mention. The one thing that made it a bit inconvenient was the television. All the channels were in German, granted you are in Germany, but there were only a couple channels that were English so I recommend bringing an HDMI cable to connect to the television so that you can watch what you want on the big screen. There was a balcony door but it was more of a door, rather than a balcony. One thing about the room is that they had A/C but it did not go as cold as I would have preferred it so I had to keep the balcony door open for a cooler room while I slept. Now, the A/C wasn't burning hot but when I slept with my partner it was just a bit hot. They had paid parking that allowed you to select a certain amount of days to pay for parking instead of paying every day. If you don't have a car, you can either walk but I recommend using electric scooters to get around as they are very convenient. They also had laundry services for a price about 3 euros each for a wash and dry as well as an ironing board. One thing that helped a lot was that there was a grocery store directly attached to the hotel so you could go get any groceries or items that you needed very easily. There is also an ATM located in the grocery store when you enter just in case you need to pull out cash. If you need anything, call the lobby and they will be more than happy to help and assist you with anything you want or need. I asked for extra towels and they immediately got it sent to my room. I did phone the lobby for a room cleaning on a Sunday at around 1400 (2PM) and the person seemed a bit taken aback and said that room cleaning was already finished as they start at 0700 and would not be available until the next day. That threw off a little but I'm assuming that was my fault since most things are closed on Sundays in Germany so maybe it applied to this as well. I did not try the breakfast or other foods/drinks they offered so I cannot attest to the quality and such. Everything is pretty much private and hands-off. Once they check you in, you can pretty much operate on your own. Again, I loved my experience here and if I were to come back to Frankfurt again, I would definitely book...
Read moreNice enough rooms, but I have never, ever, ever experienced such rude and unprofessional staff anywhere in my life. Check-in is beyond painful: they basically demand that you do their job, and sit you down at a computer to type in everything that a receptionist would normally do for you. It was chaos - all 6 people in my group were complaining about it, as were several other guests. The whole process takes an eternity. Ironic, as the staff say it is a "concept" hotel designed to make it quicker. Well, it doesn't. And it never will. It is the worst idea ever...but they don't want to hear it. After 20 minutes of waiting my turn, and then struggling through the process, I complained to the staff member that this is a terrible process. I asked if the hotel is interested in feedback, but she said nothing. I finally got to a screen with 3 room numbers on it, and she asked me which one I wanted. How do I know? Is room 227 better than room 212? I told her all I wanted was for her to do her job and let me be the guest, not the receptionist. She then told me "I don't like the way you're speaking to me. You should show me more respect or we're going to have a problem here." Wow! Hundreds of nights in hotels where I thought I'd experienced the worst type of customer service ever, and yet she came up with THIS! I told her my problem was not with her, but the process, but by this point she was clearly too "offended" to even attempt to be polite. When she finally gave me my room key, she just said "there's your key". That was it. No apologies for the appalling check-in experience, no "welcome to the hotel; I hope your experience improves", no "I understand your frustration and will pass on your feedback to management". Just "there's your key". The only redeeming factor is that the next day I spoke to another staff member (Nicky) who was truly lovely, and clearly took my complaint seriously. Nicky's approach was much appreciated, but unfortunately it's hard to erase the memory of such unbelievable rudeness from her colleague - and the comments from my 5 colleagues, all of whom made it clear that the next time we are in Frankfurt they will not be staying...
