What a surprise!

Previous German “fine dining” experiences have been substandard, so I did not expect much from the restaurant and have been avoiding it for some years now (only went because of the views (and yes they are amazing)). I left more than satisfied and would most likely be back… what a pleasant surprise!

The good: very attentive and knowledgeable staff provide a friendly and non-pretentious atmosphere; quite a large selection of dishes to choose from (this turned out to be a real blessing as my party could eat cauliflower and steak whilst I try out Blutwurst, Saumagen and Leber); relatively quick dinner; dishes were wonderfully plated; and the spectacular view added to the experience.

The sub-optimal: we were never informed of the wine pairings; the wine menu was a bit difficult to navigate even with the help of the sommelier (who was friendly, lively and realistically knowledgable - what I especially appreciated was that he went and researched something after he couldn’t answer a question I had and then we could discuss it a bit more at a later stage; this greatly added to the non-pretentious and comfortable atmosphere); the party needs to decide for the small or large menu (would have been wonderful if this could be combined - yes it is sub-optimal for those wanting the 5-course menu, but a gourmet should not be restricted because someone else has pre-eaten (not necessary for Franzi by the way); and some of the food explorations were a tad rushed.

All in all, a pleasant surprise! Considering the attractive price point, I might start visiting the restaurant more frequently for business dinners or to introduce acquaintances to...

Overpriced good food with great views. We made a reservation for a Monday evening, as it was the birthday of my girlfriend. There is a clear strategy to basically have a minimum charge per person, and that comes in the form of menus. You can choose between €100 or a €150 menu per person, which does not include the beverages. So the two stars for the average food are taking into account the prices charged. The service was mixed: generally good however we asked to be seated at a table with nicer views, but we’re not given the possibility. Further, I asked for a green chartreuse and was served a yellow instead. When I pointed this out instead of apologizing and bringing me the correct beverage, which I have ordered, I was invited to engage in a discussion involving bringing the bottle and showing me the content. as I didn’t want to spoil the atmosphere (my gf’s birthday), I just stopped this bizarre discussion. I have been drinking Chartreuse for years and you can really not mistake the green for the yellow one (neither in terms of color nor taste). Very, very bad handling of their mistake. The views were very good and that’s basically also the only thing which is worth it at this place. We ended up paying approximately €150 per person without the tip. For that money there are much better alternatives. Only recommended if you don’t care about the prices nor have high expectations from the service. Update 7.7.2023 We went back to a restaurant again on 7.7.2023. The reception downstairs and upstairs were perfect. Friendly service but honestly it was a bit annoying seeing the bartender was high all the time at work ( I guess he was full of drug). And what shocked me most was they let the lady wearing just a bodysuit in! I mean it’s your body you can dress however you want, but such a upper class restaurant … I was disappointed, I think the restaurant itself should at least have a dress code. Food was better than last time I was there, bigger portion and came out hot. Service went down a little as they messed up the dishes of who ordered what.

It was a great experience there with a wonderful location along with the German cuisine. You get a nice view of Frankfurt from the restaurant. The atmosphere there was really nice and relaxed.

We had a few cocktails they were really good. All the staffs were really accommodating and friendly. The price was a bit high but it was worth it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out or a date.
