The layout of this hotel is unlike anything I've experienced. When I got there, I didn't know where the reception desk was.. I went to what looked like a bar counter - complete with pizza oven, microwaves and menu boards - to ask. Then I was told I was at the check-in desk. Okay, interesting. They told me I had to wait 3 HOURS for my room to be ready - despite the Marriott App telling me my room was ready - this after a 9 hour plane flight.
The elevator is plastered with pictures of people seemingly having a ball around the hotel, I never actaually saw any of this - but it was cute. The room was below average - no closet/cupboard, 2 pegs in the wall to hang whatever might need hanging - and no phone. That was a first for me.
I went back down to the front desk to find out if it was normal to not have a closet, hangars or a phone in the rooms - and had to stand for 15 minutes while the reception staff made food for other guests in the restaurant. When they finally got to me, the lady told me with a smile.. yes, its normal.
The mattress felt too soft - like it was worn out. The shower only had two settings - very hot or very cold, and aside from a garish floor-to-ceiling photograph of a paint-splattered woman screaming, there wasn't much to the decor.
Its very much DIY.. they expect you to understand the German instructions on the coffee machines - or just don't have coffee. The reception staff are just too busy to help. Breakfast seemed to consist of hard-boiled eggs and assorted cuts of meat.
Overall, Moxy is a concept that needs work. Nice idea, shiny surface with serious problems underneath. I hope they can fix things - the staff seem very pleasant - if overworked, and it seems...
