A hotel with Old World charm in the middle of Garching. In fact, literally stumbling distance from the U-bahn Garching stop. Lots of space in the room, though that seems to come at the cost of one of the narrowest showers I have ever seen). The windows open(! though that is probably because the room didn't have a/c [but did have a table fan] -- not a dealbreaker on a cool summer evening). Everything was kept scrupulously clean. Wifi was excellent. Breakfast is an Event -- I am used to continental spreads where you go fill your plate and eat at a rudimentary table, but here it felt like a sit down restaurant.||I could leave my luggage all day after checking out.||The staff were very helpful answering questions about getting around Garching. Getting there from the airport is easy as pie. Buy a ticket on the MVV app or at the platform at Flughafen München to Garching (no modifiers, plain Garching) and take the S8 to Ismaning. If you have a paper ticket you will have to validate it at one of the machines that look like parking meters before you board, but the ticket machine can also sell you a pre-validated ticket that is good an hour after you buy it -- once you validate a ticket, it must be used within an hour. Get off at Ismaning, and get on the bus 230W. Hop off at the Garching stop, and the hotel is about 200 feet away, across the road, and in a courtyard like plaza.
