We had a wonderful stay at Gasthaus Lamm. Waldenbuch is a cute town easily accessible by S-Bahn from Stuttgart then bus. The town is very quaint with quite a few restaurants, but please be aware that the town's quite day is Monday. No restaurants are open on Mondays. This took us to the nearby town of Tübingen by bus for dinner on Monday at Gasthaus Bären which was worth the trip to Germany alone. The Ritter Sport factory (museum closed Monday - cafe and choco shop opened on Mondays) is a very short walk from Gasthaus Lamm. The bus lines are very easy to figure out, and all of the signs are extremely clear. I wish we had bus lines like these around us in the US. Our Gasthaus hostess was very sweet and let us in around 15:30. If you don't have a phone that works in Germany, you may need to ask a local shop to call the hostess for you if you arrive before 15:00. The rooms were extremely clean, and I was delighted to see a full bathroom with a tub, sink, and toilet in our room. I want to also emphasize how clean the bathrooms were. The room was of course plain compared to US standards, but the cost, simplicity, and cleanliness are not to be compared. Amazing. Also, a nice flat screen TV with cable was also in our room. There may have been wifi, but we did not have the password. Be sure to ask if you need it. We enjoyed the night without being connected. Her breakfast was stunning, and I really appreciated the delicious Marizpan & poppy seed yogurt. She was so warm and welcoming and even complemented me on my German which was so sweet :-) I hope to one day return to Waldenbuch, and we will of course book our stay at...
Read moreMy family was in town for the holidays and we couldn't house everyone in our place so we had three adults stay at the Gasthaus Lamm for three nights. We originally requested a triple room, but they gave us a double and single for the same price, which was an unexpected bonus. The owners were very nice and met us late to check in (after hours) and early to check out. There is a restaurant, but we did not eat there. It looked very nice, however and I have eaten there in the summer in their outside patio and enjoyed it. The rooms were clean, comfortable and it was quiet. Each room had its own bathroom with shower and a TV. You can walk to the old downtown area, bakeries, restaurants and the Ritter Sport...
Read moreWe had a triple room in the corner of the building. The owner is very welcoming and was very happy to provide breakfast for me at 6.15am and at 8.15am for the rest of my family. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, cheese, jam, nutella and bread rolls. She also brings you a soft boiled egg. The room was very clean. Liquid soap was provided, but no shampoo. We have stayed here about 4 times over the last few years. The old town of Waldenbuch has a selection of restaurants and bars and a Chinese/Italian/Indian...
