They call it a romantic hotel, and it certainly is. Fortunately, they also make sure those travelers in non-romantic situations are equally as happy. I stayed in a room with my brother, and already familiar with the split twin bed European-style rooms, I was delighted to discover this hotel had split bedrooms. But more on that in a minute.||||From the moment you walk into the hotel you are met with items fit for the old town setting: antiques, a beautiful piano, plenty of candles. Everything was clean and well-cared for. The staff were no-nonsense but took care of our every need. Dining here is a real treat - be sure to get some black forest cake!! The breakfast was also very tasty, if you decide to include it know that you may request eggs cooked to order (they are not out or listed anywhere, but the staff gladly makes them.)||||I found the room to be very modern. I even had a bed that had a motion-controlled nightlight built into its base! Both bedrooms were very roomy. One had a desk the other outdoor access to a porch. The bathroom was very large with two sinks and a great shower with amazing pressure. We received a fresh fruit plate upon arrival, and the room came supplied with fine bath products.||||The grounds and the rooms were very quiet - I heard no ground noise and slept really well during my two night stay. I would love to return to this hotel for a romantic get away - I wonder what a single room...
Read moreI came with my dog to Badenweiler, escaping the 1st of August fireworks in Switzerland. Why Badenweiler? For one, it's not so far from where I live. Secondly I was travelling down memory lane, seen that I did my internships some decades ago in Badenweiler. When looking for a place to stay, allowing dogs, the reviews about Romantik Hotel zur Sonne were immediately convincing. And I don't regret my choice at all. I am myself from hotel business and nowadays you rarely find real hospitality, lived hospitality, breathed hospitality. All this applies to this hotel: ALL staff, from all levels displayed that this was not only a job but a vocation. Really impressive. Dogs: same welcome as human beings - impressive. More than 30 dogs at once staying at the hotel - no barking, no hassle, no unpleasant vibes. Some 7 to 10 dogs in the Lounge during breakfast, you did not feel them. All peaceful - impressive. And the food is just amazing. Fantastic breakfast (served until 11 AM and one can sit as long as one want) and amazing dinner. A. culinary explosion for the senses. Location of the hotel: in the middle of downtown (if you can call it in Badenweiler like this). Perfect to explore the village, easy to walk the dog, easy to go for excursions. If you look for quiet and relaxing, this is the place to go. If you look for party, you should continue looking. If you are below 50 years old, you are heavily decreasing the average age of...
Read moreThe Zur Sonne Romantik Hotel is amazing. Tom the chef and his wife Catinka made my friend and I completely at home! On arrival, we were greeted with a smile and offered a coffee on check in.Both rooms (room 4 and 5) were spotless with a nice balcony. During the evening, we had a delicious meal at the restaurant and it was one of the nicest meals I have ever tasted! The care and attention to detail not only from Tom the chef but all the staff really made the meal spectacular. Breakfast in the morning was equally amazing- lots of choice of fresh homemade food and different types of bread! Amazing. The hotel is a credit to both Tom and Catinka who I believe have just recently bought the hotel. I wish them and their family all the best. We will certainly be back for another stay. I have nothing but good words to say for my stay here. Totally relaxing and near to the spa. Tom and Catinka provided us with towels, robes, slippers and a bag which we could take to the spa- my friend also had free parking behind the hotel which was a plus. I am sure any future guests will not be disappointed. Can 100 percent...
