We recently stayed at the Hotel Mövenpick-Hallbergmoos near Munich Airport and overall had a very positive experience.
The hotel is a great option if you’re looking for a convenient Park & Fly solution. We were able to leave our car at the hotel during our trip, and everything from check-in to the airport transfer went absolutely smoothly. After returning from our travels, we were even reimbursed for the taxi ride back from the airport directly at reception—an efficient and much appreciated service.
The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. When we returned to the hotel and asked about coffee or a possible breakfast—despite having missed breakfast hours—a kind receptionist told us we could help ourselves to coffee from the machine in the hall. Next to the machine were some croissants and small snacks, which seemed like a thoughtful touch. I made myself a coffee, one for my wife, and took a couple of croissants for our kids, who hadn’t had anything to eat yet.
Unfortunately, this is where the experience took a disappointing turn. One of the staff members—possibly a head waiter or manager—approached me in a very rude and abrupt manner in front of my family and other guests. He ordered me to put the croissants back, despite the fact that I had already taken them with my hands. I explained I was happy to pay for them, and that I touched them already but he insisted quite harshly that we weren’t allowed to take them, pointing out a sign (in German, which I do not speak). He even went to verify the situation with reception, who apparently clarified that only coffee was permitted.
While I understand if certain items were not intended for guests at that time, the manner in which this was handled was completely inappropriate and unnecessarily humiliating. It’s especially surprising and disappointing coming from a hotel brand like Mövenpick, where hospitality and professionalism are typically of a high standard.
Despite this unfortunate incident, I want to highlight that the rest of our experience was very good, and the service at the front desk was excellent. With better internal communication and a more courteous approach from certain staff, this hotel would deserve a...
Read moreOn our way through we visited this hotel, where I stayed during my working life very often with pleasure. On arrival we paid for 1 night parking 20 euros! The staff at the lobby was friendly and efficient and gave us a nice quiet room. The room had a minibar, flat screen TV, good large beds, free, well-functioning WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. Unfortunately, after a few minutes we smelled a sewer smell in the room. This appeared to come from the bathroom, shower, toilet and sink. We informed the lobby, who immediately sent someone to our room. She brought a bottle with special disinfectant that was poured into the drains. This helped immediately and the dirty smell did not return later. We reserved a table for two for dinner in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes before our order was taken. Weiss beer, grilled vegetables with rice and veal strips with mushrooms in mushroom sauce with hash browns. An hour and 15 minutes later the meals were served! Unfortunately no grilled vegetables but vegetables etc. in curry sauce! After some insistence the vegetables in curry sauce were taken back and they would serve the grilled vegetables after all. These came again 35 minutes later! The quality of the veal strips with mushrooms in mushroom sauce was very mediocre, much too salty and the sauce was much too thin, mushroom soup! The dinner was very disappointing, unfortunately far too little but well-intentioned staff. We slept well and the breakfast the next morning was perfect and extensive. All in all, no longer the top quality hotel it used to be. Certainly considering the prices that have to be paid for room, dinner, breakfast...
Read moreWe stayed at Movenpick Jimbaran Bali previously, service provided is excellent. The reason why we chose Movenpick in Munchen is because we had very good experience stay on January 2018 in Bali. We thought the service and hospitality at least satisfying. Let me tell you about the our experience upon checked out. Reception is great, very assisting in getting taxi for us and made a call. It was a kind gesture. We were there for 1 night, booked 2 rooms , 2 adults and our 2 children ( 12 & 6 ). While waiting for cab, next to reception desk, water, coffee and sweets (chocolates ) provided. We took some of cut in pieces "Movenpick" chocolate which are put in a glass jar. Kids love them. Out of the blue someone from the Kitchen rushing out and in front of us without a word keeping that jar and hide it inside the cupboard underneath the serving coffee desk. To tell you the truth, we are a bit shock and offended by that gesture. Perhaps you should put some special notes on top of that serving desk if it is NOT complimentary. Afterall, its only a sweets which is too bad carrying own brand, Movenpick. Movenpick as far as we knew based on last excellent experience in Bali, is a child friendly hotel. But our experience in Munchen is totally reflects...
