A local recommended this restaurant to us when we were staying in St Goar. It's a short drive away (up a very steep hill!), but we were so glad we made the effort to find it.||The owner welcomed us like long lost friends and really set the tone for the evening. Despite there being 8 of us (including 4 noisy children), the service was prompt (especially compared with the glacial speed of the other restaurants we'd tried in St Goar) and the food was excellent.||Many of the local restaurants seem to have a very limited typically German menu which is fine for the first couple of meals, but wears thin after 3 days of eating out at lunch and dinner. A nice hotel located very close to the Rhine river of Sankt Goar opposite to the Lorelei. Nice designed hotel which makes you feel at home if you wish to enjoy the German traditional service and hospitality. Warmly welcomed and had a real nice dinner in their terrace. Room includes breakfast, served as expected. The down side is because of the hot summer rooms do not offer any fans or any cooling device as well the rooms are located on higher floors so be ready to walk a lot of stairways. The owners left the hotel and locked me in. At 6:30 in the morning I had to leave jumping out of the window (about 2m jump). Take aside a fire code violation it is simply a thing that can ruin your day. I got problems from my supervisor for being late.
But leave that aside... No cellphone reception, wifi working 25%of the time and with an archaic speed, rooms old and tiny, no parking next to the hotel. Size and type of the pillows and the comforter on the bed changing daily. It's a surprise. You never know whit what size or type of pillow you will sleep that night.
One thing in its defence is that despite old interior it does not stink. Yup... that's about all...
