They wanted us to stay in the direct sunlight. The restaurant was empty, but they wouldn't let us move the table 8 inches to get out of the sun. They refused to serve us pizza, but forced us to chug our beers at €6 a pop and leave. I asked if they could recommend other pizza joints and they could not.
I can fully recommend Goar Bistro 200m away. Their food, atmosphere, and service is 10/10. Near the river and they accommodated our request for an umbrella from the sun.
Do not go to alla Fontana. Terrible service, bad atmosphere and who knows about the food.

Good food and value but they simply don't have enough staff to run the place effectively. It was just two of them; the chef in the back and the front of house performing all the serving and ordering.
Perhaps it was just an off day or they found themselves understaffed due to someone calling in sick, but near the end of our meal as the restaurant started filling up, we were hoping to order dessert but was completely ignored by the server for over 40 minutes. We made eye contact and tried flagging her down several times and were simply ignored. Essen: Das Essen war gut, wir würden es als solide bezeichnen. Es gab eine größere Auswahl auf der Karte von Vorspeisen über Pizza und Pasta bis Überbackenes und auch noch Desserts. Die Karte war für Vegetarier geeignet. Veganer würde ich sagen eingeschränkt - wenn man bei Pizza den Käse weg lässt.
Wir hatten Pizza und Pasta, das war gut unserer Meinung jedoch nicht vergleichbar mit einem richtigen Italiener. Unserer Meinung nach lag das Essen bei guter "Imbiss" Qualität aber nicht bei der Qualität die wir von einem traditionellen Italiener erwarten würden.
Service: Der Kellner war sehr nett. Es waren mehrere Service Kräfte im Raum und hinter der Theke zu sehen. Einer der Kellner wirkte etwas unsicher ggf. unbeholfen, vielleicht war er neu oder als Aushilfe hier. Auch hier waren wir nicht bei der Qualität eines langjährigen Traditionsunternehmens aber es war solide gut!
Ambiente: Ich finde das Ambiente wirkte etwas lieblos auch etwas ungemütlich im Innenreich. Im Außenbereich gab es eine Terrasse, die sah gemütlich aus, konnten wir jedoch aufgrund des Wetters nicht nutzen.
Zusammenfassung: In St. Goar war nach unseren Google Recherchen das Angebot an Restaurant begrenzt. Hiervon waren die in den exponierten Lagen leider super schlecht bewertet, weshalb wir uns für diesen doch durchaus gut bewerteten "Italiener" entschieden hatten.
