Myself and my friend had requested a family room with a balcony, upon arrival we was sent to a separate annexe across the car park to a room which had no balcony, when I spoke to the check in staff, (whom English is very limited) we were sent to another room, which was large enough for one person and had to share a bed, so not to forfeit my request for a balcony. After trying to sort this out for a good hour, we were offered the room at a lower rate, we had no choice to accept this, as this was the only room available, not good, considering I booked this three months earlier, and was my friends birthday.||The rooms are very clean, with comfortable beds, and great showers, no fridges in the room. The on site restaurant is great value, very tasty food, with very friendly staff, no English written menus, or in other languages except German, staff speak Italian, which was good for me. Breakfast at the hotel was very fresh and great value the rate is €7 per person, good coffee.||Location is extremely good, two minute walk to a small square which is the main town, with a few shops, and lots of Pizzerias, was disappointed that a fair few of the local German Taverns were closed nearly every day, it was not a bank holiday so im unclear as to why. But overall a lovey stay in a very pretty town. Very green, very peaceful, but bear in mind you will need a car or good walking shoes, as we didn’t see a bus or any other public transport the whole time we were there (4 days) Initially booked this to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, but could not get there as the train station which is 30+ min walk away, the trains run every two hours, to Fussen then over an hour from there. Taxi fare from Memmingen airport was €55 euros very expensive for a 20 minute journey, we paid €50 going back.||Overall I would recommend this hotel for the location, restaurant, and relaxation, lovely friendly people...
Read moreWe stayed for three nights from 28 August to the 31st. The purpose of our visit was for a wedding in Mindelheim. The hotel is extremely good value and is near enough the little town to walk comfortably to. The room was spotless and the bathroom was clean and functionable. Towels were changed daily and beds made etc. Negatives .... Would have liked coffee and tea making facilities in the room but this wasn't too much of a problem. Breakfast was continental style and was available for 6 euros each per day. The outside of the hotel could have done with a bit of de-cobwebbing ...as I am terrified of spiders I was horrified when I poked head out of the window ( room 201 ) and saw the amount of cobwebs ...hence we kept windows shut and unfortunately it was really hot in Germany that week so it was a little hot at night! However , we paid 222 euros for three nights which was fantastic value all things considered. There is an Italian restaurant in the hotel which was very popular. I would definitely stay here for a night or two in the future but probably wouldn't stay much longer in Mindelheim , it is a very pretty town but very very very quiet ....it's worth a visit but there isn't much going on . Useful base for travelling to other places . Oh .... Another plus about the hotel ...free wifi which...
Read moreThe Kunstmuhle hotel is a modern version of the old German Inn run by a whole family…place to eat and drink downstairs and rooms to rent upstairs. Although the building is a modernized mill (you can see water racing through an old run through a window in the floor) it is of classic Gasthous style.||||The reservation desk doubles as the cash register for the restaurant, so if you expect to arrive at an odd hour, you should make arrangements (there was no one there when I left early in the morning). After being checked in by a friendly lady (small struggles with English) I went to my second story room. The room was clean, non-smoking, with a medium size flat screen TV, and adequate-speed free internet. There was no coffee or tea service. The bed was comfortable with the typical covering that doubles as a top sheet and comforter.||||The bathroom was simple, no counter space, and no amenities other than a squeeze bottle of body wash in the shower.||||I did eat in the restaurant. It was a collection of German classics (which I got)…but pizza and hamburgers, along with local beer, seemed to be the big draw for the completely full room of hungry locals. My food was good and typically priced.||||This is a nice, clean, comfortable place (2.5 star-ish), you will probably get a good rate, and I...
