We enjoyed in November 2024 a 5-night stay in The Grand Green (with our kids 0 and 3.5 years old). Coming from the Netherlands, it was for us a 5-hour drive. The expectations where high (as the price per night certainly did not came cheap) but WOW it was great!
From the arrival (with the valet service), hotel tour and the first evening: it all makes sense. The service level is what you can expect in a 5-star hotel but without the ‘formal’ setting. A unique blend of a family-hotel that offers the service of a 5-star luxury property. And maybe the most unique thing: you don’t need to bring anything regarding your baby or toddlers (they have everything on site!)
To start with the room: We had the Nest (54 m2): Exactly what you need with kids, plenty of room, separate kids room and even a small ‘hidden’ play area. Bathroom great and a decent size and easy going ‘baby change’ unit. In room tablet, for easy program check, contact with spa or concierge and ‘in advance’ wine orders work great. Also, the pillow menu was very nice (that you can order from your in-room tablet). The in-room baby phone/monitor worked well, this unit you can connect with your phone (consider audio only, no video)
Kids play areas: there are a total of 3 kids play area’s that you can consider, a baby and toddler play area with ball pit, a play area with electric carts and a big air pillow and a climbing area with a big slide of 2 stories (indoor). All great and at most places parents can easily relax. We also liked the indoor gym area for kids: the kids could take their favourite items (such as balls, ropes) and play some games. Also, outside (now it was cold) but they have some great slides and even ‘electric’ diggers.
Pool area was great, with some small slides for the toddlers, a big pool (with outdoor area) and even a baby pool. Our daughter loved the slides, and she could climb on the stairs herself (so we could just watch from the relaxing beds in a distance, water at this slide area approx. 30 cm deep). Honestly, the big 2 ‘adult’ slides where extreme (one only with a tube), so even for older kids this pool has some great experiences. We liked the spa area (nude, not for kids) with 7 saunas and an outdoor pool/bubble bath. It really feels like you are in a real spa.
Activities: they organize so many activities daily – for kids but also certainly for adults (such as Yoga) and many more. We personally did not really use the activities as our kids did not speak German neither English. But we attended the daily kids ‘dance act’ in the theatre three times and our daughter loved it. We used the baby club twice, very professional, and friendly staff. New materials. The baby club had even more play items then our regular ‘baby care’ back home, impressive.
Gastronomy: it’s of course all-inclusive (except alcohol) and honestly this works very well. They offer a general buffet with great choices. They had 3 ‘live cooking’ stations with every day another dishes (meat, fish, vegan). During our stay, they always enjoyed something different. For instance, during those 5 days, we had Duck, Dry-aged steak, Veal and a few other options. It was a surprising wide selection of high-quality choices and options. It was hard to choose. Don’t forget to ask for the wine menu (and the sommelier will come as well), they offer an impressive wine menu with 700 wines on-site. Even for kids they have a ‘small size’ buffet with all kids of choices, our daughter loved it. However, it also caused some challenges ‘what to eat’ 😉
Food for babies: they offer at a few locations in the hotel ‘baby bars’ with all kids of baby food (from milk, towards all kids of selections). Unique and I personally never saw this before. That also brings me on the ‘changing’ toilet stations you can find throughout the hotel. That has diapers, moisture toilet paper and everything you need to chance the diaper of your baby/toddler.
Honestly, I already forget a few things. But it was a great and relaxing stay and we will certainly return again from the...
Read moreOne if not THE BEST family hotel we have ever stayed im globally. We did not even want to leave (but extend our holiday by 3 days) however the hotel was booked out. We have already booked our next 2 stays. The predominantly 5 stars given here in the reviews are 100% correct in fact there seems to be a fan page on facebook where families can exchange their fandom, stay in contact, or ask other grand green guests casual questions ie how to maximize their stay or what to bring.
Hotel Everything is new and perfectly clean. While it is modern and stylish nothing feels unsafe for kids or pressuring stiff (after just having given birth i do not want to feel very formal but just want a cosy place to be spoiled and relax)
Staff Everyone has been beyond helpful and generous. Our 19 months old son had spilled soft icecream all over the floor by accident and staff swiftly cleaned it without hard feelings (genuinely tho) saying kids are allowed to do this. Staff seems to authentically care for and genuinely have empathy for kids. While all service was always instant / very fast (ie getting stuff from our car, replacing lost key, getting bucket to heat our own milk,...) nobody ever appeared rushed or stressed out.
Kids Club This has only been the 2nd time (1st was my midwife) that we felt comfortable to have our kids being cared for by an "external carer" and we felt very safe. The team was incredibly kind; each of our children (3 and 19 months) cried on different days and as I rushed to pick them up i saw staff through the glass wall lovingly and calmly and professionally and patiently cradle/calm them as I approached. My older son apparently also wantes the milk bottle of my younger son (he usually gets the small leftovers ;-)) but they didnt hand it in case of allergies / bc it hadnt been mentioned by me. i thought that was very responsible and accountable of the team. Also kids had their diapers changed even during 1 hr stays which we appreciated. Really happy fun team- if this was a local kindergarten we would register!
Room Room had all possible amenities (and more!) one would wish for as parents; various baby bed options, bottle heater, diaper bucket, toy, sterilizer, kids sink,... Walls appeared sound proof as we did not hear any other kids sounds from neighbouring guests.
Food Usually we are critical about buffetts bc of the food quality but this was super fresh and top quality. Also beautifulckids buffett ans baby buffett w lots of hipp milks and glasses.
It was nice to walk around without a diaper bag as milk, kids snacks, and generously filled (diapers size 1-6, oil, powder, wet wipes,...) Diaper changing stations. The kids toilets got us excited about potty training...
We will be back!
Note; i was surprised there are actually unsatisfied customers in these reviews however when specifically reading their comments curiously i learned it wasnt real hotel guests bc they never stayed / experienced the hotel. They were either A) upset they couldnt holiday at Grand Green if they didnt have kids B) upset they couldnt tour/look around the premises without having a booking. Both only make us feel safer and like this...
