First of all, we had a nice stay and are considering to return. I try to rate locations on an average of 3 stars for being OK, all things considered, and only go higher than that if something stood out.
This location is great for families with several (young) children. The childcare that is provided enables parents to have some alone time and relax as well.
A few things that need improvement in order to justify the prices they charge and that would have prompted me to give a higher rating (most of these are details and more of interest for the owner, not potential guests):
Food: food quality is as you may expect in family friendly buffets, most of it is probably bought externally and defrosted, vegetables tend to be overcooked, meat is generally dry, desserts don't have a nice texture there are few vegetarian options unless you want to eat salad and different forms of potatoes every day noteworthy is the good ice cream and the cheese platter which has a nice variety (not every day though)
Spa: the pool is too small, during rush hour you can barely move 1m the 90° sauna barely reached 70° when I used it you only get one towel and a bathrobe as spa-kit, which is too little if you want to use the sauna the amount of avaiable massage professionals is too limited, we couldn't book the mother-daughter session there is only one sports class a day spa and sports room should be open for more hours, even with the children taken care off during the day it would give a bit more flexibility for the own schedule
Information: the Gastfreund app is a good idea, but either the app is slow or the Wifi can't handle it's traffic, cause its sites load extremely slowly or not at app (Android Pixel 5) the reception can't tell you much about the child care, there are two separate numbers for that
Checkout: when you book a flat with kids toys, there is a checklist to confirm the completeness, which in turn is fine again by housekeeping upon leaving. That process is a bit bothersome, since it requires additional steps for just a part of the inventory. I may as well steal plates and cups, the hotel would still have to get in touch and prove it. So I think a process to check the inventory after checkout would be sufficient and save staff and guests a...
Read moreHotel? The friendliness of the staff don't make it a hotel. Social welfare flats turned into hotel apartments, I will not say anything about the decoration of the flats. Not worth mentioning it. Not even the outside was changed. Just left it the way it was from before it was changed to a "hotel". My apartment was on the 5th floor and of course it so easy to carry everything up and down with NO ELEVATOR. I mean seriously now. The food was less than average. Not to say that the restaurant was only serving until 20.15 from there on nothing, everything is picked up at that time. And if you try to go earlier of course it is very difficult to find a table. Ok maybe because it was easter. But the time of closing is unacceptable. You are in a very beautiful area where you want to walk and do things but you have to rush back to get food because it closing early. What were they thinking. Seriously. No bar. After 21.00 you don't get anything to drink. Bring yours or go to sleep early. Because you are on holidays. Take care of your children, a road is crossing the hotel area. Yeap, a main road leading to same looking flats used as residential. It's called family hotel but really nothing for children except outside. Pool area very small. So in bad weather what are the children supposed to do? Anybody thought about that? There is a lot more to say but I can't write anymore, I got pain...
Read moreWe traveled with a 5yo and a 2yo. We've tried different kinderhotels and our stay at Elldus was ok compared to others. We did the all-inclusive and stayed in the renovated 2 bedroom, room 40, which was perfect space. Here are our pros and cons list:||CONS:|- Food is mediocre. For inclusive price, we hoped for better quality. The meat or mains were always dry and overcooked. Think 3 meals a day for multiple days. We drove to nearby restaurants for better quality food.|- Not much areas for adults to hangout (afternoons get really crowded in the only space - SpielScheunde)|- Small pool area (not much variety)|- No elevator in the apartment buildings to we made request to be on 1st or ground floor.|- Not sound insulated (you can hear guests in the next flats)|- More activities needed ||PROS:|- Daycare for babies and kids for full day. They take them to lunch so the parents can have a full day to themselves.|- Breakfast variety is good. Small options for vegetarians and gluten-free |- Electric cars charge free for guests |- Nice private spa though pricey|- Friendly staff! Very helpful and kind|- Room 40 was a great apartment, with kitchenette, living room |- Washer and dryer free to use |- Pony riding||Though there were things could improve, our children had a great time and loved it. Not the best kinderhotel but good enough if you want a few days break while kids are in...
