Hotel Königssee — Hotel in Schönau am Königssee

This is one of the best kept secrets in Germany! The hotel has a 3-star rating and by all accounts, it deserves to be a 4-star hotel. The staff is very friendly and welcoming (with a friendly greeting from every employee when you pass by) and the rooms are very well appointed with ample living space when compared to other hotels. The common areas of the hotel are well maintained and attractive. We booked the "A2" room which was the 3rd floor balcony room at the front of the hotel. The bathroom was so nice that we're considering a remodel of our bathroom at home to match it. The bed was comfortable, the housekeeping was efficient and the balcony had a fantastic view of lake Konigssee. This room and the other balcony room we had last year were both equipped with a "mini-fridge" which is fairly rare and great for keeping your favorite drinks cold while relaxing in the room. The included breakfast and free parking are a very attractive addition to the amenities. Sandra at the front desk treated us much like family and did everything within her power to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. She even helped to arrange an anniversary bouquet to be delivered to the room on our special day. Daniel in the biergarten also deserves high praise for his attentive and friendly service. This hotel has a fully staffed bar, restaurant and biergarten which is not available at many other hotels with 3 star ratings. Though slightly pricey, the laundry service the hotel provides can take the stress out of a vacation (I believe the charge was ~5 Euro per item). This hotel is in a fantastic location (minutes from Berchtesgaden and less than an hour from Salzburg). I stayed with my parents and daughter during the late October 2019. It is a wonderful hotel with excellent location which just next to the Konigssee. My parents may have a morning walk before their breakfast. Their delicious breakfast to bring us a great good morning. Sarah is a very nice girl and very helpful for all my questions before arriving the hotel. The only problem is no lift facility so that my elderly parents with the heavy luggage is difficult to move, or you have to request for the G/F. In the heart of Kongissee, across from the docks, location can't be better, surrounded by restaurants and shoppes. We stayed in a newly renovated room with a balcony over looking the main street and you could still smell the new wood construction smell. Very comfortable, large work bathroom, recessed lighting in the bed room and clever design that allowed room for our stuff while maximizing the space. Receptionist was friendly. Only con was the confusion in getting our car to the parking lot for the hotel - do not follow the Google gps route, you have to take the road to the back of the hotel and then park in front of the "billiards" building - there's no sign.
