Restaurant Seehaus am Königssee — Restaurant in Schönau am Königssee

A very good travel experience ended up being somewhat disappointing because of our experience at this establishment.

Food: Good. Taste was authentic, meat was soft and juicy. Deserts were delicious! The salad had a bit too much of Balsamic vinegar for my liking, but that is subjective opinion. Everything else was great!

Price: A tad bit overpriced compared to neighbouring restaurants in the same categories.

Ambience: Beautiful property with a nice view and good seating arrangement.

Menu: Decent variety of food options.

Service: This is where the restaurant really takes a hit. Service was very slow. Waiter forgot an order and made us wait 20 minutes more. We ordered a dish and then immediately asked them if it was possible to change the order. They said, yes but only if we order something more expensive. This was extremely rude from a hospitality point of view as it showed that not changing the order was not an inconvenience but simply a choice. The waiter was rude and ill-mannered on several occasions. In the end, we came to know that they only accept cash payments (which was not mentioned anywhere at the door or counter).

Despite being a good property with a good chef, the quality of service really brings the property down. I hope they work on it in...

The experience was overall good. We went to the restaurant after finishing the boat tour. It’s nicely located on the street between the lake and the information center. The guy was friendly and came back when we weren't ready to order. He also offered alternatives to pork when we asked. The food looked bigger on the menu. We had the XXL burger, which wasn’t as big and the fried seelach fillet. The fillet wasn’t the best, but the presentation was nice with lots of salads and vegetables. We also had orange juice, which unfortunately didn’t taste great—it was like supermarket juice. The place is large and gives a local Bayrisch vibe. It wasn’t crowded, and the tables were spaced out well, giving good personal space. The prices were moderate; they could be a little cheaper in the city, but for a tourist spot, it was fine. My family and I walked in around dinner time, a waiter took our drinks order and left before we could order our food. Another waiter came over and asked for our food order, the drinks came before we could finish and the waiter said with a dirty look ‘Why didn’t you mention you already ordered drinks?’.

My family and I were extremely confused. When we asked for clarification the earlier waiter raised his voice and was extremely rude and insulting, Only then did we realize in this restaurant, you can only order with one waiter.

We had never experienced such rude and horrible service in Europe, I highly discourage anyone especially tourists, from visiting this restaurant. The food was average and absolutely does not justify the rudeness.
