Hotel Romäus is a convenient 8 minute walk from the train station. When I got there around Noon, the door was locked, but a quick call to the telephone number shown on the door window and I was meeting the owner. It's helpful to have your mobile phone with you to accomplish this call. (For our American friends, providers like Verizon have plans that cost $10/day to use your phone abroad consuming your home data and minute allowances. Just make sure you activate before travel.) ||||The proprietors did not speak much English, but my German is passable. They were very friendly and welcoming to me and later, showed me how to get to the old city. That's a short walk and there is even an Irish Pub (Fürstenberg's) on the way.||||I was surprised at an earlier review. I found the room to be clean. Yes, there was a small amount of mold in the shower. Yet, the shower looked scrubbed and otherwise, spotless. Very basic 1 star hotel with no elevator and expencive for no reason. I stayed 10 days and they changed me room 3 times. Ive been to the 3rd floor in a dirty room with no private bathroom and shower. I payed the same price though. After all they changed my toilet paper ONCE in 10 days so i had to buy my own. And the worst part , as i said im travelling for work so i come back in my room at night. And thats the tine when they turn the heating off and the hot water. Seriusly??? And i had to pay this room same price as in frankfurt or stuttgart in 4 star hotel with top quality rooms and service.
