i would have rated this family run hotel with 3.5 * in tripadvisor if y could, however i finally chose 4.||||the hotel is located in a quiet village in lake constanz, the harbour is 100 metres away. there are several restaurants in the very close neighbourhood.||||the check-in and check-out were managed quickly and efficiently by the owner. the reception has limited opening hours that i cannot remember. the key of the room allowes to get inside when arriving late.||||my room was a "dooble room hafenpanorama": actually i had a very partial view of the lake. after autumm, when the leaves from the trees fall, the view of the lake should be better. ||||the room was very clean.||||the size was rather small, as it was shown in the photos (so, no tricks), but it was well equipped and maintained. acceptable bed and pillows. safety box. there was a small table with a kettle and tea bags (no instant coffee however). sufficient plugs. a wardrobe of sufficient size for a one week trip baggage.the bathroom was very small, but sufficient. the shower was good. towels were better than in other hotel of their category.||||the balcony seemed to me the key element for satisfaction during my stay. it was pleasant and had to chairs and a small table.||||soundprofing seemed to me sufficient, although the village is very quiet anyway.||||the courtain, however, was too thin and there was too much light in the room since sunset.||||the breakfast buffet included in the room price was acceptable: the usual german continental breakfast (bread, juices, fruit, cold meats, cerals, cheeses...) plus scrambled eggs. although there were some cakes, i missed some more pastries: not even croissants were available. good coffee||||good parking space at the back courtyard for 6 euros a day, which is more than reasonable.||||i did not use the free wifi.||||dogs are accepted by 13 euros a day.||||the hotel doesnot have air conditioned, which can be a sort of problem on certain summer days. i stayed there on a 32 degrees day and had no issues. a small fan was available in the room and that helped.||||acceptable value for money.||||i would not mind to book this hotel again if back to uhldingen, but would also check other...
Read moreWe visited this hotel on August 12 2017, for 1 night with my wife and my 10 year old son. |The good news: Room 17 was well decorated and clean, good beds, had a good size balcony (looking at the passing traffic) and the port was 100 meters away. Wifi was ok and car parking was sufficient.|The breakfast was of good quality, like what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. The personnel was mostly friendly, with one exception that came across anything from careless to arrogant.|The bad news: The room was pretty small, I had to move back and forth the bed of my son to open fully the balcony door and the toilet was strictly designed for use of one person at a time.|The room had no air-condition, except a ventilator that took the bad air out of the toilet. The same ventilator however, has brought into the room the cigarette smoke from the people in the bar of the hotel, which is located exactly below the room. So, the room air quality deteriorated through the night, till about 3am, when the guests of the bar finally left. As the hotel is very central, people would pass by till 2-3 am in the morning and talk nice and loud, ensuring that if the windows were open, you will wake up. So, it was the choice between a stinking room or the loudness of the street, neither good preconditions for a nice sleep. |The result: The cost of the double room (with an extra travelling bed for my son) for the night was 205 Euros (including breakfast and taxes). |For this price i expect an air-condition in the room and a ventilation that works rather than bringing the smoke from the bar, so one can sleep with the windows closed. |I am not planning to visit this hotel again and I would not further recommend...
Read moreA lovely hotel in the middle of a lovely little German Village on the NE shore of Bodensee / Lake Constance, not far from Meersburg, another lovely little town. ||A typical local-style hotel with spacious, well fitted-out modern rooms with all the necessaries for an enjoyable, relaxing sojourn. The only thing missing is Airco :-((||The staff are first class, professional, polite, friendly and helpfully informative, on all things local.||Now, favourite subject . . . food (and drink) . . . breakfast is superb, lunch excellent (if you can manage it after the breakfast); Kaffee & Kuche can be taken in the afternoons on the cafe-terrace (think again of that breakfast!) and the evening meals, well, what can I say? - all primarily all local dishes, excellently prepared and presented. AND (even breakfast, if you really want too), all this lovely food can be washed down with some excellent local wine because Uhldingen-Muhlhofen is right in the middle of the Baden Wine-growing region.||OK, now I'm out of the kitchen, what else can you do . . . you're right in the centre of the yachting area on Bodensee (push out your boat!) or you can get the ferry to Mainau Island (of Flowers), or Konstanz Town or even just up & down Bodensee. It's your choice. You can even take a drive to see local area or use the excellent local bus service. ||There's plenty of parking, off-road, free and...
