These rooms have pride of place on this harbour...the views are just perfect and undisturbed by any noise from any roads or tavernas. It reminded us of the Greece of 30 years ago. We paid 60 euros per night. We did see some fairly ghastly alternatives in Votsi complete with cockroaches so be warned! The hosts Litsa and John are lovely; warm and welcoming and willing to help out with lifts to and from the harbour and making phone calls. The environment is spotlessly clean and the couple work hard to keep the place in good order. We had the top flat which is very spacious with a very large living room/kitchen and a separate double bedroom. It has large roof terrace which was great. The bedroom of this flat is featured in a photo on this site....the downside is that this room has no roof space and the windows are double glazed and without shutters. At night the flat was stuffy and we found it difficult to sleep as the air con was noisy and didn't shut off at the required temperature. It is worth taking this into consideration and taking one of the rooms ( which have some kitchen facilities) if heat is an issue for you.Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this friendly family run pension if you want a simple authentic...
Read moreWe chose Votsi for the peace & quiet and were not disappointed; accommodation was very clean with great sea views from the balcony. The owner was friendly & helpful and made us most welcome. Local beach was 3 minutes walk; rather pebbly but crystal clear swimming waters and very quiet. The port was a pleasant 30 minute walk, away from the main road past the next small bay up & down the steps. There were 4 tavernas in Votsi but only one open in September and another 2 in the next bay, 15 minute walk; street lights; no need for a torch. Whilst on Alonissos a trip up to the old town in the hills is a must do on the local bus service from the port. If staying in Votsi ask the driver to drop you at the first stop on returning to the port and then you can have a short walk back into the village on the main road. We really enjoyed our short stay at Pension Oniro and can definitely recommend. The only negative is that we were not offered a port transfer on departure so had a 8 euro...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful! Litsa and her husband are great hosts, they picked us up at he post and made us feel at home for the 2 weeks of our stay in Oniro. They offered very clean rooms, outstanding view from the balcony overlooking a small village marine, fan and airconditioner, good shower and a little kitchen with enough utilities for a family with a child (we rented a studio for 3 people). The nearest beach with crystak clear water (no sand, bring shous!) was just a couple of minutes walk, as well as several taverns with good food/wines. The town of Patitiry is just a 20 min walk, where you can rent a car/moped and drive from one beautiful beach to another or to the Old town for its small streets and unforgettable sunsets. We were lucky to be in time for Alonissos Dance Festival and saw many dancers from all Greece! It is perfect place for relaxing or hiking vacation surrounded with a pure nature and friendly local people. I would definetely recommed it to...
