Stayed here for a week with my partner, we knew it was a 2* rated studio so expected that.
For the most part the studios are lovely with a great view of the sea, although there was a few things that just overall made the experience less than what it could of been.
On our first day we noticed ants everywhere on the floor in the studio, we found that they were coming through the cracks on the floor and in the boarding, we used toilet roll to block off these as walking around just felt gross when there was ants everywhere. We stayed in studio 3 which was on the top floor.
Our shower head broke and needed replacing so we contacted the necessary people regarding this, they explained they would fix it the following day which we were perfectly fine with as we was still able to use the shower pipe, just not the shower head attachment. The following day we went out for the full day and returned for the cleaner to try and fix the shower head, they had no tools with them and one cleaner took my face wipes to use to try and take off the shower head? The cleaner never asked to use my items and it was a shame as they were more expensive ones for my specific skin so this wasn’t appreciated. The shower head couldn’t be fixed so we had to hose pipe ourselves down again until it was fixed by a professional on the 3rd day.
The last issue was on the paper it said the bins were cleaned daily and bedding/towels every 3 days. Our bins were emptied around 2-3 times during the whole week, it got to the point where we was leaving the tied up bins next to the door so the cleaners were aware to empty them as it is a self catering studio so we did buy food to store in the fridge, the issue with the bins being constantly full was the ants, we had ants crawling all over the work surfaces and near the bins etc.
For the most part the studio is lovely, great size balcony that wraps around, a drying rack to dry bikinis and swim shorts, air conditioning and you are very close to some lovely quieter beach locations and restaurants.
The studios are self catering meaning people cook and wash their own pots, every plate and pot i took out the cupboard was dirty and had food on them, this isn’t anyone’s fault other than the prior guests that stayed as it’s their responsibility to wash up as you are provided a cloth and dish soap. With this in mind, the cleaners are supposed to do a deep clean each time guests leave so this is obviously looked over when it comes to the “deep clean”
Another thing is checkout is at 10am, you can pay extra to stay a little longer if nobody is checking in early as we heard although we had someone checking in early afternoon so couldn’t. There’s nowhere to leave your bags other than outside the studios although we didn’t feel comfortable doing that so we went to the bar/pool just 5 minutes away and and sat with all our belongings, we had food and drinks and could use the pool if wanted to. This passed enough time as the airport coach pickup wasn’t until 6:55-7:25pm
Wi-fi is very poor along with data. It constantly cuts out or doesn’t load anything at all, we did notice our data was good outside on the balcony but for the most part, don’t bother connecting to the wifi as you’ll constantly loose service and it’s not strong enough...
Read moreJust back from staying 11 nights on the top floor in the front block close to and overlooking the sea. Booked as part of a package through First Choice.
Firstly the good points: Fabulous sea views More spacious than expected Pillows comfortable Good supply of hot water Kitchenette equipment worked ok
Not so good points There is no immediate access to the sea, the gate at the foot of the garden above the shore is locked. Not a problem for some but I'd been hoping to be able to swim and snorkel close to the accommodation. (There is however a small beach about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the East) The balcony table, railings, clothes drying frame and floor were below bird nests and the bird droppings were not cleaned. (despite this is was lovely having the birds so close). Many sightings of what I think were Pharoah ants and piles of micro debris kept appearing. Poor sound insulation, the people below were up chatting until 3am and our sleep disturbed. Nothing to hold onto for stability in the shower/bath No toaster provided. About 1km from the nearest shop and few tavernas or...

This is a good value for money two star hotel in a very quiet part of Skala just away from the busier part of town. We would suggest hiring a car if you would like to explore but we managed without one. We had a sea view, the cleaners were excellent and it was easy to spark up conversations with fellow holiday makers in adjoining apartments. In the heat of August the walk into town to shop should be well planned and perhaps buy yourself some 'wet shoes' to navigate the stone beaches before arriving. There isn't a TUI rep onsite but we didn't really need any additional assistance, the app gave useful updates throughout
We ate several times at the Nautilus where this family run restaurant make you feel completely at home, we'd recommend one of the boat trips from Scala as it gave us an excellent way to see more...
