Long wait, poor service, average food – NOT WORTH IT!
A restaurant that tries to look fancy but offers cheap service and mediocre food – unquestionably so. We were greeted by a man with an arrogant attitude, the kind who acts like he’s doing you a favor by letting you sit at a table. We waited over an hour just for appetizers and another 30 minutes for the main course – no explanation, no apology, no sign of basic hospitality. The food? Nothing special. The tzatziki and the feta pie were decent, but completely unimpressive. For the main course, I ordered a strange combination: traditional Greek village sausages in tomato sauce, but with a few shrimp thrown in – presumably to make it feel more “modern” or upscale. The result? A failed experiment. The flavors didn’t match, the textures clashed – it simply didn’t work. At the end, the waiter’s ironic tone and the superior attitude of the lady at the register – who claimed to be the owner – perfectly sealed the unpleasant experience. I also noticed some laughable prices on the menu, like lobster for €150, in a place that looks and feels no different from a basic beachfront taverna. The gap between image and reality is almost comical. There are far better places in Scala, with real Greek food and people who understand what hospitality...
Read moreThis was our third visit in the past 16 years. The views are great if you are sat in the boat. However the night we visited was very busy. We had to ask for menus and then to order. We were told orders were being taken according to when guests had arrived which made perfect sense. We order starters and main and drinks altogether for speed. In total it was over an hour and 10 mins before we asked where our food was. Other people who had arrived after us and ordered after us had been served and finished their meals with no sign of ours. We were told it was because one of ours meals was from the grill. After another 10 mins the food arrived. No apology. The server was rude and completely unapologetic over the delay. The drinks were small and over priced as was the food compared to other restaurants in Skala. You pay for the experience which is not great if you're not sat in the boat. Unfortunately we had a similar experience on previous visit but are always up for trying places again. However this was most definitely our last visit. There are so many nice friendly restaurants in...
Read moreThis is a truly family-run restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interior is beautifully styled with nautical décor, and from the outside the building looks like an old sailing ship – absolutely unique and charming. From the terrace, you get a fantastic view over the beach below, which makes every meal even more memorable.
All week we started our mornings with their delicious frappé, which they kindly prepared for us to take down to the beach just under the hill where the restaurant is located. We came back every day for lunch, and often even for dinner, despite having half-board at our hotel. The food is simply outstanding – we tried as much as we could from the menu, and everything was excellent. The highlight for us was definitely the lobster, perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
Special mention goes to their excellent shrimp, local fresh fish, mussels, creative salads, and authentic Greek cheeses – each dish was a true delight. Thanks to this place, we had an unforgettable holiday – for the second time already. Next summer, we will...
