We stayed in Room 29, a beautiful bungalow room overlooking the sea. The room is well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, a small sitting area, then the main bedroom plus sofa overlooking the seafront. The bathroom was great, separate bath and shower and double basins. The balcony was lovely, however one of the table chairs broke but was replaced quickly when reported to reception. A big positive was that there was a large sun umbrella on all the balconies, useful and enabled us to use the balcony more than we would have done without the shade.
We stayed half board and the food in the dining room (White Dining Room - Buffet Restaurant) was fresh, tasty and plentiful with nice views in the evening of the setting sun.
While there is an outdoor pool, we used the hotel private beach each day with free sunbeds and umbrellas, the beach is a combination of stone, shingle and sand so be sure to pack a pair of sea shoes for swimming, a lovely beach, very relaxing. Staff at White Rocks were all very friendly, helpful and exceptionally polite, a few to mention were Alexandra on reception, Elizabeth and Alexia in the dining room and Giorgi. Sorry we can’t remember more names, all were great. Would highly recommend the hotel.
White Rocks Hotel - Vrachinari Beach & Pool Bar Called here a few times for snacks/drinks whilst spending the day on the beach. Staff were always exceptionally friendly, the food and drinks served were tasty and fresh. All drinks were served in plastic tumblers so you could take them to the poolside/beach and return to a large basket on your way back. It is helpful to be able to charge purchases to the room whilst out and about on the complex, saved having to take cash out with you. Also to note the poolside and beach were beautifully maintained and cleaned all the time, a credit to the grounds staff.
White Rocks Hotel - Lungomare La Carte Restaurant This is the a la carte restaurant in the White Rocks Hotel and is truly a very special experience and certainly shouldn’t be missed whilst staying here. We visited for lunch one day and a couple of evenings for dinner. The service and all the staff were excellent, with stunning views of the sea and the sunsets were amazing. Dishes of note, although everything was freshly made and delicious, were the Greek salad, seabass, risotto and pork gyros, worth a visit.
It is also worthy of note that there is a local supermarket nearby (Super Market Mina in Lassi), this is circa 700m, (10-minute) walk from the White Rocks Hotel. When coming from the hotel you need to walk down to the Platis Gialos Beach via a secure gate to the hotel, be sure to bring your room keycard to get back in again. Use this route and not the main road out of the hotel as there is no footpath and a busy road. As you come up the road from the Platis Gialos Beach there is a footpath circa 100m away. The supermarket is well stocked, had everything and more than we went for and the staff...
Read moreOk the positives: Really nice hotel, beautiful location very relaxing holiday, good food & nice to have it's own beach ⛱️ (lots of pebbles 👣 😬). Nice pool area with lots of beds and beenbags which doesn't feel like your sat on top of others, beautiful view and amazing sunsets 🌞. Having access to both a private beach and a local sandy beach was good (local beach was busy, but it was a public holiday in Kafelonia) Our room was big with lots a storage & plenty of plug sockets. Free safe and daily replacement of free bottled water, placed in the fridge which was a good size. The food in the hotel is plentiful and there is good selection (we are not a fussy eating family) for me the food was fantastic, The portions at the beach bar a very big, for 3 of us we often had just one or two meals from the menu to share (A little limited but enough to choose from and again beautiful). Location: About 10mins walk into Lassi it's one main road with a number of different Taverns, and Argostoli is a short taxi ride €10 each way. It is beautiful.
The downside: If your less mobile this place isn't for you! There is a steep hill down to the beach and a bit of a walk from the main hotel to the pool, and the pool bar is down a bank. I did witness waiters taking drinkss to beds but when I asked the waitress, I was told it was bar service only 🤷🏼♂️.
The private beach is great but it is a pebbled beach, with small pebbles around the sunbeds and then bigger pebbles/ stones in the sea making it difficult when getting in and out of the water (Water shoes needed!). Not as many sunbeds on the private beach.
Room service: In our room there was a window from the bathroom into the bedroom, this did have a privacy blind but it wasn't completely private, which meant you can sit on the bed and see someone sitting on the toilet, my teenage daughter found this very uncomfortable (understandably) I don't see the point of this. We ran out of toilet roll at one point as this wasn't added to our room. Also Bath & beach towels should have been changed every other day but we had to ask for a replacement and again on one of the days we were left without any towels. Just a quick call to reception and it was sorted.
Not much evening entertainment over the week, there were only two musical acts. There was one Jazz night and the other a Greek night, both very good but was hoping for a little bit more.
Overall view would I book again, probably for all my little niggles it wouldn't stop me returning to White Rocks but next time I would definitely pay for a sea view as the views are outstanding and I would probably look at a bungalow as these are closer to the pool...
Read moreWe stayed at White Rocks Hotel in Kefalonia and while there were certainly positives, I left feeling a little underwhelmed considering the cost.||First, the location is undeniably stunning. The hotel is perched in a beautiful setting with panoramic views of the Ionian Sea, and we booked a bungalow with a sea view. The view itself was breathtaking and absolutely worth the extra money. The grounds are kept clean and tidy, and the property has a polished, well-maintained feel.||The staff were another highlight. Every member of the team we encountered was professional, hardworking, and polite. They clearly take pride in their work and contribute to the overall smooth running of the hotel.||However, there were several areas that disappointed me. The biggest was the dining experience. We stayed on a half-board basis, and for a hotel at this price point, I expected the food to be of a much higher standard. Unfortunately, I found it repetitive, lacking in quality, and not what I would associate with a five-star establishment. Looking back, I regret choosing half board and would have preferred to explore local restaurants instead.||Drinks are also very expensive, and I didn’t feel they offered value for money. The cheapest bottle of wine on the list was €32.00, which in my opinion is excessive, especially when you consider the standard of the food being served alongside it.||The hotel’s private “beach” was another let-down. It is described as a beach, but in reality, it is more like a cluster of sun loungers placed across rocky outcrops. The terrain is very uneven underfoot, making it uncomfortable to move around, and it lacks the soft sand and easy access to the sea that most people would expect when they hear the word “beach.”||Entertainment is also minimal. Aside from a jazz group playing on Tuesday evenings, there was virtually nothing else offered. This left the hotel feeling very quiet in the evenings, with no atmosphere or buzz around the place.||Another point worth noting is that the hotel does not cater for children at all. There are no amenities such as slides, swings, or paddling pools, making it unsuitable for families. This may suit couples seeking a peaceful, adults-only style retreat, but it is definitely not family-friendly.||Overall, while the White Rocks Hotel excels in location, cleanliness, and staff professionalism, it falls short in key areas such as dining, entertainment, facilities, and value for money. Given the high cost of staying here, I expected far more, and I can’t say I’d be in a...
