Location & Arrival – 9.5/10 The hotel is very easy to locate once you know where it is, but we did initially need to ask a nearby shop for directions as our transfer didn’t specify the entrance. This is no fault of the hotel, but it’s worth noting for future arrivals. Once inside, the exterior and lobby are spotless and welcoming, setting a great first impression.
Check-In & Staff – 10/10 We were warmly greeted by Deano, who personally escorted us to our room, explained its features, and made us feel instantly at home. Every single member of staff, from reception to kitchen, was consistently friendly, polite, and accommodating. It’s rare to find such genuine, personable service these days, and this team truly shines. Fast, efficient check-in added to the smooth experience.
Rooms & Cleanliness – 9/10 The rooms were impeccably clean, with thoughtful layouts and soundproofing—once the balcony door was closed, the room was virtually silent. A separate bug netting layer on the door was a great touch. While some of the furniture could benefit from modernisation, everything served its purpose well. The only downside was the lack of kitchenware—though a kettle and stove were provided, we weren’t sure if pots and pans were available. However, we opted to dine out, so this didn’t affect our stay much.
Bathroom – 8.5/10 The bathroom was spotless with excellent water pressure and temperature. It functioned more like a wet room, but this wasn't an issue. Towels were refreshed every two days, and while no toiletries were provided, the overall cleanliness and reliability were appreciated.
Facilities & Amenities – 8.5/10 Wi-Fi worked well in common areas like the pool and reception, though it didn’t extend to the rooms. I could still connect from the balcony, which was helpful. The on-site restaurant and bar were lovely with excellent food at fantastic prices—$11 for a massive pizza that three of us couldn’t finish! A pint of lager cost around £3.87, which was unbeatable.
I was pleasantly surprised (and slightly disappointed!) to discover on our last day that a pool table and gym were available. These should definitely be mentioned more prominently, as they would have added even more to our stay.
Housekeeping – 10/10 Housekeeping was reliable and respectful. They came daily to empty bins and replace essentials and fully honoured the Do Not Disturb sign when requested. Extra items were provided promptly when asked for.
Dining – N/A for Breakfast We didn’t try the breakfast (priced at $9 per person), but the overall restaurant experience was great—quiet, professional, and consistent.
Value for Money – 10/10 The value was exceptional. From food prices to accommodation and service quality, we felt like we received far more than we paid for. Tourist tax is an additional $5 per day per room, so keep that in mind.
Local Area – 9.5/10 Kriopigi is a beautiful, clean, and quiet area. I felt safe walking alone at night, and there are many nearby shops, restaurants, and beaches. Taxis are reliable and well-priced. Recommendations from staff led us to both Hanioti beach and Afytos village—both well worth visiting!
Highlights & Final Thoughts – 9.5/10 The standout aspect of this hotel is undoubtedly its staff. The warm, family-run atmosphere is genuine and charming, and their hospitality went above and beyond. Their hotel cat was an adorable bonus!
Room for Improvement
Some English TV channels would be appreciated
Wi-Fi coverage in rooms could be improved
Clearer communication at check-in regarding available facilities like the gym and pool table
Would I Return? Absolutely. This is the kind of place I could see myself coming back to every year. It’s ideal for solo travellers, couples, or families who are looking for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with good food, a great location, and unbeatable...
Read moreWith beautiful views from the balcony, the hotel is set in a fairly quite location with little noise from the local town. The early morning sounds of house sparrows, Swifts a swallows gives you that sense of a pace of life that more relaxed. During the day, you are entertained by the agile swallows and swifts skimming the pool to drink. During the day the pool is just the job after a sizzle on the sun loungers. A pool side bar serves cold drinks and some snacks to help sustain you with your arduous sunbathing. In the evening, you are not more than a few hundred metres from the local shops and restaurants. The local town is a more traditional Greek town and therefore not spoilt with the more popular type venues for tourist. It's nice to sample a range of Greek foods, but also have a selection for the kids who miss their favourites. The rooms are basic with a wet room, a kitchen area that includes a fridge, sink and hob. The family room has a double for the grown ups and single beds for the kids. There's a flat panel TV to watch the local channels. We brought a portal USB hard disc with a selection of films on for the kids, which can be plugged into the TV's USB input and played directly. Happy children!!! As far as holiday locations go, this place is a good choice. We'd happily come...
Read moreLovely family run hotel. Daphane, Achillias, Dino and Elena are wonderful freindly hosts, who will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was fine basic but with everything needed for our stay.....If you are looking for 5 star luxury it's probably not for you. On other hand you want to feel welcomed and valued I'd say it's ideal. Pool and pool area is massive and has most sun loungers ive ever seen. Guests where mixed and varied from families to young couples, to older couples groups and a few small young lad and girls. All got along well and never encountered any problems. Had few items from small bar menu and all where fine.....The one bone of contention I read before hand is the beach .........there is a walk to any beach in Halkidik it's unavoidable....this is not the hotels fault. Anyway the beach roughly 600m downhill is well worth a visit as the beach bar is wonderful as is the small beach and crystal clear waters....the walk back can be a bit of a pain but the beach bar will offer customers a lift. Anyway I would deffo come back to Medussa and have no problems reccommending it to anybody......thank you Daphane and family it was a pleasure ....we...
