Bistro Kriopigi — Restaurant in Kassandra Municipality

My girlfriend and I just arrived in Halkidiki two nights ago at the hotel around the corner. We went for a walk down the road to find somewhere authentic, (we're avid foodies who work in the restaurant trade and can be quite critical, and hate the typical tourist food i.e burgers, chips, chicken nuggets). Not even 10 minutes from setting off we stumbled across this absolute gem. We walked in and a waitress instantly greeted us with a smile and let us choose a table. From the moment we sat down we felt at home. A lovely lady came outside and also greeted us, and then within the space of 2 minutes a gentleman working there (the owner?) Came over, poured our drinks and also said hello and made us feel at home. We ordered some starters (burrata and a scamorza/bresaola combo). When they arrived we were blown away. The presentation was amazing and the taste matched. Had a little break and then ordered some mains. These were also spectacular and full of flavour. The presentation of the entire restaurant is gorgeous, with a lovely sea view and beautiful decor. When we finished we didnt feel rushed to leave, and on the way out all the staff also said goodbye. From start to finish we experienced brilliant customer service and amazing food. I just wish I got the names of the gentleman and the ladies who worked there as they were fantastic. 10/10 I wish I could fit this place in...

Food was great. Service was poor. We (family of 4) ordered 2 starters to share (Bruschetta and Focaccia) and even as we were still finishing it they were clearing our plates away and bringing the main dishes. Myself and my wife finished our mains and they immediately cleared our plates. My kids took a bit longer and when they finished their mains we sat for ages waiting for them to clear the kids plates and bring us a dessert menu. We finally had to flag one of the staff down to bring the menu. In the end only one of the kids ordered a dessert, the rest of us were bored and just wanted to go. So it kind of spoilt the mood and the meal. As mentioned the food itself was lovely but the service was, to be diplomatic, "sporadic". Also, I had to chase them for the bill. And I watched the lady add a 10% service charge (tip) on without asking me which kind of annoyed me as service had...

Our experience at this bistro was among the worst we have ever had. The service was absolutely unacceptable. We had to wait for more than half an hour before anyone even came to take our order. The manager in charge of the orders tried to put on a mask of “politeness” towards the customers, while at the same time speaking to the staff in a harsh and disrespectful way that was impossible not to notice.

Especially, when we pointed out the delay, his attitude was not just impolite, but downright rude and confrontational. Instead of making the slightest effort to correct the situation, he turned it into one of the most unpleasant interactions we have ever experienced in a dining establishment.
