A culinary jewel in Kryopigi - Melisma: The perfect combination of tradition and modern flavours.
During our holidays we had the pleasure of dining at Melisma seven nights. Yes, seven times! And why? Because each time was even more beautiful than the previous one and we just couldn't resist coming back again and again and again…
Service The service at Melisma is superb. From the moment we arrived we were treated like friends. Every member of staff radiates warmth and genuine hospitality going above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and cared for. It is rare to come across such a dedicated and attentive team – every interaction was with a personal touch both professional and heartfelt.
Quality Melisma's menu is an exquisite blend of traditional Greek cuisine with a refreshing modern twist. Each dish is prepared with care combining local flavours with innovative techniques that make every bite an experience. The ingredients are fresh and the attention to detail is evident in every presentation. We tried a variety of dishes throughout the week - and each one was as perfect as the last. (U will see it in the collages.) The quality is second to none and makes this restaurant a highlight not only in Halkidiki but for every gourmet or foodie.
The atmosphere The evenings at Melisma were a real highlight of our holiday in Halkidiki. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and stylish at the same time - the perfect place to forget the time and just enjoy the moment. Whether on the idyllic terrace on the first floor on the ‘village square’ under the gnarled olive trees where there is a lot of activity or in front of the restaurant forecourt the atmosphere was always inviting and harmonious. The relaxed atmosphere coupled with the positive energy of the Melisma team made every evening an unforgettable experience. If you like dogs and cats you will get visits from time to time.
Melisma is a place we would like to return to again and again. Anyone who has had the pleasure of dining here knows exactly what we are talking about. Thank you, Alex and Melisma team for these incredible culinary memories that will stay with us forever....
Read moreAbsolutely loved our 1st dining experience here. The food was delightful and notably different to other local eateries. The menu is a one sheet affair (my fave type) and we went for starters of baked feta cheese in tomato and mackerel which were both cooked to perfection. For our mains we had prawns in a tomato sauce with feta and whilst based on a typical saganaki it was very different in that the prawns were cooked on the grill and then laid on a bed of fresh tomato and feta pieces then the hot tomato sauce is added at the table. You could taste the freshness in everything in this dish - amazing! My partner went for the chicken breast with Demi glacé and purée mash. I’ve honestly never tasted chicken as moist and delicious this and my partner agreed! This is a new venture from two locals, one of whom had spent her uni years in the Uk and had come back to Kriopigi to develop the building the restaurant is housed in and apparently it had been in quite a state of disrepair so to see it now looking fresh and funky it’s hard to visualise it. A super enjoyable night and we will be back...
Read moreMelisma restaurant is tucked away at the top of Kriopighi village, a little apart from the main road. The setting is nice, but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The menu itself was quite limited and a little disappointing in terms of variety.
Service was attentive and friendly by our server, Gerald. He was excellent and a real credit to the restaurant. However, the pacing of the meal let things down. Our mains arrived while we were still eating our starters, and because the tables are quite small, I actually had to send the starter back as there simply wasn’t room to keep everything on the table.
Food-wise, I tried the caramelised pork belly, but sadly it wasn’t great as it was very fatty, chewy, and overwhelmingly sweet, which made it hard to enjoy.
Overall, while the service was very good, the food and overall dining experience left a lot to be desired, and unfortunately I...
