Merichas Sea View Suites — Hotel in Kythnos Municipality

Kythos is a wonderful island however Merichas Sea View Suites was a real let down. Firstly when we booked, we were informed that their internet was down and could we pay by bank transfer rather than credit card. We did this. Upon arrival by ferry, we walked to the location and were met with a monstrous number of stairs. We found this landing was only half way up! Total 100 steps!!! Eventually after gaining assistance on the first landing from a young guest of another apartment, we reached Merichas Sea View Suites. Having called Mr Petros earlier, he showed up. Our initial room was very basic, it was NOT a Delux Double Room. Very expensive for the lack of anything. After complaining that there was no WiFi, we were moved to a room with a view and balcony. I told Mr Petros that there were too many steps and his response was that it showed its location on the website. No it doesn't!!!! It only shows the top landing!! This was a total rip off! Terrible experience – do not recommend

We stayed here with 5 friends and it was one of the worst accommodations I’ve ever experienced. • The room was dirty when we arrived. • They never took the rubbish out and never provided toilet paper (we had to knock on their door and they only gave us one roll for 6 people). • There was no hot water at any point during our stay. • On the last night there were serious plumbing issues, the noise kept us up all night, and instead of apologizing they had the nerve to ask us to leave before 10:00 even though check-out is officially at 11. • The cleaners were rude and unhelpful.

On top of all that, the location requires climbing 100 steps – which might have been worth it if the service and conditions were decent, but unfortunately it was the exact opposite.

We had an amazing time at Merichas Suites. There was a slight communication mistake at first, but the staff handled it so well and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The view is absolutely worth the steps, and I honestly don’t understand why some people have left bad reviews the staff even offered to carry our bags up, which was such a thoughtful touch. You really can’t get a view like this without a bit of a climb. When we asked for an extra pot, they happily provided one, which we really appreciated. The kitchen is limited, but more than enough for preparing breakfast and a light lunch. The location is excellent too, with supermarkets and bakeries just nearby.
