Don’t believe the pictures of the Villas Maganissi on the Tui website and the owner has deliberately altered the name slightly in trip advisor so people struggle to find his Villas on Trip Advisor and update with latest pictures complaints he altered the name on trip advisor to the Maganisi Villas which is very sneaky. But we have persevered and found the villas.||||I have now updated the pictures in Trip advisor so that people can truly see how bad these villas are. I hate to think what people homes must be like if they like these villas as they are as described bohemian but they are simply disheveled and extremely unhygienic including badly maintained.||||My advice is don’t waste your money with Tui as the Villas Maganissi as two the villas reserved for Tui are filthy dirty hobbles that are truly not maintained the pictures on the Tui website are identical except but they do not reflect disheveled and how outdated these properties are you will struggle to get a response to complaints emails from Tui directors including complaints department. This has to be the worst villa experience we have had and the worse holiday with Tui since they merged with other travel companies they have certainly gone downhill when it comes to customer care.||||Tui are still advertising this holiday after being made fully aware just how bad the Villas Maganissi or Maganisi when we sent them a full report below with lots of pictures. The pictures Tui displayed on their website and brochures are confusing as they are not only out of date but a mix of the three villas the two we stayed were disgusting. The villas are inspected by the Tui representative who is not doing checks as it would fail health and safety on mainland Greece or back in the UK no smoke detectors. My opinion of Dimitri he is an owner who has no regard for his Tui customers and he is nothing short of a bully and the fact he made my wife cry after she complained to the Tui representative and he threatened her proves he wants to cover up his badly maintained holiday properties.|| This was such a bad experience we had to rent another villa on the island which was a million time better and worked out to be the same price after the Tui representative could not be bothered to visit us after complaining they moved us to the second villa which was just bad as the first villa we stayed in||We have booked for year’s holidays with Tui. We got our money back but I am still angry with the owner and Tui and these properties are still being advertised. The Trustpilot web site truly reflects how bad Tui customer feedback is with a 70% BAD 1 star and 2 star complaint.||||We will in future not book a holiday with Tui again and I hope they continue this slippery service and slither into bankruptcy they truly do not deserve to be in the travel industry as they do not give a hoot about their customer safety and the hygene of holiday stays, they were actually a far better company in the days of Thomson.||||See below unacceptable itemised list of the 1st Villa Meganissi ||1. Arrived at airport on time and met Jenny our Dutch tour Tui representative who explained her English is very poor and could we speak slowly for her as her English was not so good. She explained she was based in Leftkarda and only visits Meganissi if we should have a problem. We travelled by taxi to the place that the water taxi was due to pick us up and take us to Meganassi. The water taxi ferry took about 40mins to arrive to take us to the island and once aboard we nearly lost my husband’s hand luggage overboard, which had expensive camera equipment in it, as the boat sped off so quickly fortunately my son saved it. When we arrived at Meganissi port it was around 9.00 pm and dark. The owner who was supposed to meet us and direct us to villa was not there. Instead he had sent his son (around 15/16 years old) and a friend on a moped with no lights and limited English. He was apologetic that his father was not available. We followed the owners son the long way round to the villa in the dark with his friend driving whilst his son shone his phone at us as pillion passenger with our car providing the light for them to drive on the road. The car, Fiat Panda, had seen better days and the steering rack felt like it was going to come away. At this point we were starting to worry how our holiday and villa was going to be as this was not our usual experience.||||2. On arrival at the villa at the top on the complex which was the 1st villa we were told by the owners son and friend that we could not use the air conditioning for longer than 15 minutes as it would break down and could catch fire.||||3. There was two bathroom, each with a shower hose in bath that was worn out and had seen better days. The wash basins were covered in grime and the mastic sealant was black with mildew where dirt and water had got under the mastic. Both toilets where not white but a dirty grey smothered in water scale and around the base and hinges mouldy white mastic that reeked of urine. In fact the whole of each bathroom stank of urine and dampness - I would say bleach or any cleaning product had not entered these premises in years.||||4. The two bathroom bath’s had a dirty scum lime and layers of grime and the plug holes where full of curly hair and another layer of scum.||||5. Both bathroom floors were dirty and when walked on sounded like walking on sand paper||||6. The bath and basin taps in each bathroom were not clean and shining but also covered in a layer of scum and scale - in the basin drain were again hairs. The drain plug in one basin sink was oversized and did not fit the drain hole, the tiles were broken in places again where the tiles reached the floor the sealant was black with . The second bath had large chunks of broken of the enamel missing.||||7. The shower curtain was dirty and each room had a make shift brass fitting to hold up the curtain rail – all of which were rusty.||||8. NOTE Both bathrooms with toilets had extremely low ceilings making it impossible to step up in the bath and use the combination bath and shower if you were 6ft tall. As a family my son and I are over 6 ft tall and would have had to kneel down to use it. As it happened both bathrooms where so dirty that we would not use them - they were to disgusting and we would have felt dirtier than when we stepped into them. In the brochure/on line there was no mention of height restriction in the bathrooms.||||9. There were no smoke detectors to be seen in any room of the 1st villa only the casing which you would attach an alarm too – this would dictate that the owner was aware that they were needed but had not been put up. We do not recall seeing any signs to show safety exits.||||10. The light fitting was missing from the 2nd bedroom and there was no light bulb in passage way to the bedroom. The light bulbs wattage was so low throughout the villas it made it impossible to read a book.||||11. The lounge curtain was broken one end and where the curtain hook was missing it had been tied loosely with long loop of string. There was also a large white stain on the settee.||||12. The properties were not maintained and looked nothing like the pictures inside or outside that are advertised online and in the brochures by Tui. The external paint is worn away and the pool had a scum line of grease around it and was black with mildew at the bottom of the pool. No one could realistically use the pool without risk of catching something. The garden hoses for watering the plants were all broken and there was dying/dead rose heads everywhere. Infact the whole garden had not been watered for a long time. There is no excuse for not watering plants as nearby hotels were washing down patios and watering plants on a daily basis.||||13. The fridge seals were covered in food and grease, doors and handles throughout the kitchen in both villas where covered in greasy hand marks and the ovens covered in a layer of baked on and dripping grease. The kitchen drawers had unclean cutlery and utensils along with food debris. ||The 2nD Villa Meganissi||||14. The 2nd villa was not much better that the 1st Villa – it was the last of the three villas at the bottom of the hill. This too had a dirty kitchen, again the work surface ware covered in greasy hand marks, around the doors the doors. The fridge seals were covered in bits of food and grease and the oven was oozing grease and stained brown like the 1st villa. We found what appeared to be food debris in the drawers and cupboards along with what appeared to be mice droppings. Again cutlery and utensils were unclean.||||15. The glass patio sliding door did not need a warning sticker to show it was glass as you couldn’t see through. It was full of a damp haze or condensation where the double glazing had a blown so the entire glass panel could not be seen through.||||16. We could not venture outside for long as wasps had started nesting in the tap outside and pool shower drain. They were swarming around the pool and the patio and we had to run to the car to go out.||||17. The pool was dirty like the 1st villa and the floor was black in places with a greasy line...

When we reached Meganisi Dimitri was waiting for us with our hire car (they do say they are the funeral home of the ex hire cars) so be warned! The villa was excellent. All you could want, with cooker, kettle, microwave, coffee maker etc. Couldn't really see the villa's full potential until the following morning but wow! It was very peaceful and totally secluded with its own pool just a tad cold for early May although we did venture in for a swim a few times! Water was just warming up when we were going home. Cleaner came twice weekly to change bedding, change towels etc and clean and both her and Dimitri were very discreet by always calling out and knocking before they entered the villa. Nothing was too much trouble for Dimitri, if there was a problem, he would sort it immediately. I should add that the villas are in a secured plot of land in a gated area so no other vehicles can enter. Restaurants are plenty in Vathy and in Katomeri with a great choice on the menus. ||||Beaches are shingle so bring your jelly shoes, but the crystal clear waters make up for it.||||We have been coming to various islands in Greece now for many years and this island is certainly the most relaxing island we have ever visited.||||Would highly recommend Meganisi Villas to anyone who would like a completely "chillaxed" holiday. Well done Dimitri...
Read moreWe have stayed in many fine places during our travels around the Greek Islands' but never have we stayed in a place that is so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful.||Dimitri has managed to hit the perfect balance of being on hand for your every need, and leaving you alone without intrusion. ||We stayed in villa 2 , which was perfect for the four of us, a two bedroom, with 1 double and 1 twin. The whole villa is well equipped and has a lovely pool and 3 areas for you to while away the hours if you choose to spend a lazy day away from the beach.||Upon arrival by water taxi to the island we were met by Dimitri and our cases loaded into his car, after which we followed him in our hire car (Fiat Panda), on the ten minute journey up the hill, thru Katomeri, to our accommodation.||Our villa was a haven of quiet with and had a beautiful view out over the sea.||The 3 villas are within a gated surround and are very secure, and most days you are greeted enthusiastically by Chops, Dimitri's friendly black labrador, who stands sentinel on their property.||The one thing to remember for the whole of your stay, is that if you need anything arranging, any problem solving, or any questions answered, ask Dimitri. Honestly, there is no one he doesn't know on Meganisi and he'll do his best to help in any...
