Room 618 – Wyndham Grand…. or not as is the case!!!||||This is our true experience and any views shared are our personal opinions, of which, we are all entitled to.||||Before I start, unless you are a single traveller for a couple of days, do not accept Room 618 as an upgrade... it's truly an insult! Unfortunately, I was unable to upload the video so that you could view for yourselves.||||Where do I start?||On arrival at 00:30 at the Wyndham Grand we were met by Emmanuel on reception who kindly informed us that we had been upgraded to a room with whirlpool plunge pool. My initial reaction was to decline as on previous holidays, the upgrade was awful, however, given the time, my husband said just accept, which we did…. REGRETFULLY!||||We asked if the bar was open as on arrival, we like to get a drink and take a wander to familiarise ourselves with hotel and facilities. We were told it was (it was also deathly quiet as there wasn’t a single person around other than staff) and that we would have to pay as after 23:00, the drinks were not included in the ALL INCLUSIVE, clue in the name to me. ||||We got a drink nonetheless and were so happy with its beautiful location which is in a private and secluded bay. We returned to reception to go to our room and there was no offer of taking our luggage for us, we had to do this ourselves (this is supposed to be 5 star) and arrive at our upgraded room which was 618. On opening the door, I was absolutely floored with just how compact and bijou the room was. At best, this room should only be used by a single traveller for no more than 2-3 days. ||||Room 618 has no drawers, a double door wardrobe that you can only use one side of, the “bathroom sink” was next to the patio doors which you had to lean over to open, the shower was arms reach from the bed, as in right next to it, in the actual bedroom…. At 04:00 I wanted to freshen up before heading back to reception but couldn’t as it would’ve woken my husband. Why is a shower in a bedroom? If you put the mat in front of the shower, you can’t open the door to the toilet…. Which coincidentally, was quite a large space with a sink, hooks on the wall and wet room floor with drainage.||||I have attached a video for confirmation of how small this was and is certainly not an upgrade in any sense of the word. Given the time, we decided to try and sleep however, after being consumed with disappointment for 2 hours, I got up and went back to reception where I told Emmanuel that I didn’t want the upgraded room and that I wanted what we paid for which was a Double Deluxe Sea View Room. I was informed that he couldn’t change my room, it would be down to his manager who was due in at 10am that morning and that he would leave him note asking him to contact me regarding this.||||No sleep was had as I just couldn’t believe this could end up being the room we would spend the next 10-days in. I went on to the website with Cretan Holidays who were the host for this trip via yourselves and saw the rep would be in at 9am. On our way back from breakfast, I went to see her and explained we wanted to move and she too said she would speak with the manager. By 11:45, we had a call from reception saying that they had people checking out that day and that we were welcome to view the vacating rooms (albeit they would still need to be cleaned) to decide which we would be happy moving to. By 15:00 we were in a room that was as we had booked and overlooked the beautiful port of Ag Nik.||||Needless to say, I was so stressed out by this stage, it took at least 3 more days for me to relax and start trying to enjoy our holiday.||||The Good||We were moved within 24-hours of arrival and thank god or I think my husband would’ve left me given my stress levels and how upset I was.||The location is stunning and the short bus/taxi to Ag Nik is very convenient.||The supermarket across the road, what a godsend for all the things you couldn’t get at the hotel without paying additional for, which to be frank, should be standard in all-inclusive, especially 5 star as claimed.||||The Bad||You don’t have to go hungry, there is plenty of choice in the main restaurant, albeit lukewarm and repetitive.||||Some of the staff were fab and we couldn’t fault them but it was very clear that they could only give you what they were being told. For example, my husband had been drinking dark rum and coke for 3 days before being told on day 4, “I can’t let you have that as I’ve been told off as it’s not included in all-inclusive”. Really, it was so ridiculous.||||Rarely was there a fully stocked bar anywhere in the resort. Daily we were being told, there’s no tonic, there’s no coke, there's no beer (not even the local brand) there’s no this, no that, it was beyond a joke and very frustrating. At the main pool bar when being told there was no tonic, you could clearly see a well-stocked branded fridge full of said bottles of tonic, but no attempt was ever made to utilise these.||||When drinking at either the lobby bar of Marina bar in the evening, it was waiter/waitress service, a way of them controlling what you drank. There was 8 of us on more than one evening and we were taking it in turns to go to the bar to be told that we wouldn’t be served as the waiter/waitress would come to the table. Given the speed of the service, we would have been parched by the time the next visit came hence going to the bar ourselves. The drinks were always served in plastic even though we were grown adults ranging from mid-20’s to mid-50’s. Being treated like a child on holiday, when we’re the ones paying, is not good customer service.||What appeared to be the overall restaurant manager for all of the eateries on site was at best rude, grumpy, loud when having a go at the individual restaurant managers, regardless of who was around (don’t get me wrong, if there’s a problem, it needs resolving) but not in front of hotel guests, it’s unprofessional and on occasions, somewhat uncomfortable. Every time I saw him he was either walking round puffing on a cigarette (again, should be done out of the view of the guests) or having a go at someone.||||In any of the restaurants, you can only have red, white or rose wine, draught beer, cold drink or hot drink. You couldn’t order a V&T or any other such drink that wasn’t the aforementioned.||||The Marina Yacht Club is not included in the all-inclusive and you have to pay for any food from there and at 22 Euros for a burger and chips, it was again, ridiculous it wasn’t part of the all-inclusive.||||You get one speciality restaurant meal for 7 days and two for 10 days and we decided we were only going to try the Mezze during our 10-day stay so on the Thursday, we booked at reception for the Saturday night at 19:30, all was confirmed. During our stay we got friendly with another a couple who had also booked for 19:30 on Saturday, they also booked on the Thursday. We went to reception on the Friday and said we’d like a table for four rather than 2 tables for 2 which was agreed would be fine. We arrive at the restaurant on the Saturday night at 19:25 to find it was closed!!!!||When we went to reception to find out what was going on, she said that she had booked us all for the seafood restaurant, which would never have been my choice as I don’t eat seafood. When challenged, she offered to give us recommendations for alternative restaurants in the local area for some reason unbeknown to us. So, a night in the buffet restaurant it was, and we rebooked for the Sunday, as this was really the only option given we had plans, it did however, inconveniently, throw our Sunday plans out.||||Finally, there was a corporate group that descended for 4-5 days causing absolute havoc, they were rude, inconsiderate and pretty much hoovered the place dry of food and drink like a swarm of locusts. Paying guests became second class citizens and not a thing was said or done to ensure that ‘paying guests’ were not inconvenienced.||||This was quite possibly the worst holiday we’ve ever had, apart from the people we met, the location and 3-4 staff that were great. Having stayed at both 4 and 5 star hotels across the world, I can honestly say that some of the 4 star hotels make the Wyndham not so GRAND but below average at best.||||It’s certainly not a hotel I would ever recommend to anybody let...
Read moreMirabello is a beautiful clean resort with modernised bedrooms providing you are in the village area of the resort. I'm recovering from a leg injury so found the place quite spread out with hills and steps everywhere which took its toll but was manageable. I would not have liked to have been lugging a buggy up and down and access to the beach would be either long winded or a struggle. You can ask for lifts from the golf buggies if you see them though. ||Our room was a junior bungalow with a private pool which we enjoyed. It was cold but it was so hot the kids didnt care. We were lucky to have a corner plot which was a fab spot but I did notice other rooms weren't as good so I guess its pot luck. Beds for the kids were pull outs and they were uncomfortable and creaky not ideal for our older girls but did the job. Not what you'd expect for 5* when they see the ages of the children on the booking they should give older kids a bed in my opinion.||The food is lovely always lots to choose from my fave being lamb chops! Beautiful salads with feta and beetroot, olives, and deserts in particular and as much fruit as you can eat. The a la carte restaurants were amazing, service was top notch in most and nice to be waited on. Best were italian, greek and the meze one on the beach. Shame there was confusion over breakfast. Some mornings we ate in the italian restaurant for as it was a smaller scale and a quieter version of what's upstairs in the main buffet. Third day in, all of a sudden the waitress asked my friends thier room number and threw them out as they weren't on the list! Once they'd left and I complained, she checked and confirmed that they were infact on the list, and so were we, despite not knowing how we got on there in the first place and nobody had cared days before. Absolute shambles!! We stuck to the main buffet after that after they'd embarrassed my friends.||Plenty of sunbeds although the ones by the pools, the mattresses could do with a clean. Pools were clean apart from around the day beds at the main pool. Beach is lovely and sandy, sea is so warm and we enjoyed jumping into the sea from the pier and feeding the fish with bread. Bring snorkels.||Drinks are lovely but unfortunately they take ages to get. I can recommend the amaretto sour. Sometimes you're lucky but most of the time you do wait as they seem hell bent on only putting one member of staff on the bar where ever it is. Secondary staff are around but seem to only be allowed to wash up and tidy the bar in some weird hierarchy way. If they were allowed ro give out waters and pour a few beers the queues would lessen. Some guests from a certain country were loud and rude which can't be helped but what wound me up is when they pushed in they got served without waiting. In my opinion the staff should know better and make it fair. |11pm is the cut off but you just order a few... they gave us the bottle of wine or prosecco and would give double of anything, baileys etc. Kids asked at the bar for drinks and were told their drinks would be made after he'd seen to the adults. Happened a few times which I didnt like but I think its just the chilled greek way. ||Entertainment is awful so plan to make your own. It didnt bother us we played games and eat late so were happy to start heading back anyway late at night. One night we had a dj which was a guy pressing play on a laptop. Another night the kids club greek singers stayed on for ten minutes and did a couple more songs and that was it. No cinema as advertised its just a wasted opportunity as its all set up. Someone did ask us an hour before we left to change for the airport if we wanted ro do aqua aerobics but hadnt seen him before and that was the only offer of daytime fun we had all week. ||Spa itself isn't great but my massage was amazing from Elanor i had the Cretan massage and my kids had the aloe vera treatment. The jacuzzi was yellow and scummy and stank of stagnant water once turned on. Indoor pool freezing. ||We went to Ag Nik via taxi and did the semi submarine boat trip which was cheap as chips and the kids loved it. My husband didnt however he turned green.||Be mindful to book your shower room for last day when you arrive as when id checked out they could only offer me a shower half way through the day. Handy shop across the road sells allsorts. Towels you get from the bars so get fresh for the next day if you want to set up somewhere early as bars don't open til half ten, eleven. WiFi is fine. ||We paid 3290 for 4 of us for 7 nights and yes it was worth it and im glad i didnt change due to bad reviews. Wouldn't say it was 5* but it has...
Read moreSummary: We stayed here from 2 to 8 October 2024. The hotel offers great views and enjoyable evening shows, but significant issues need attention. Cleanliness is a major problem, with dirty facilities, dishes, and poor beach maintenance. Service quality is below five-star standards, with no table service at the beach bar, low-quality instant coffee, and dismissive management. Noise insulation in rooms is poor, causing disturbances, and key amenities like beach beds and room features are worn out or non-functional. Improvements in cleaning, service, maintenance, and sustainability are needed to meet five-star expectations.
Best things: Beach Bar Staff Effort: Mikhail and Danyil worked hard with limited resources, creating a welcoming atmosphere despite the hotel’s problems. Great Sea View: The view from our suite (Room 617, main building) was beautiful, offering a lovely outlook over the bay. Evening Shows: The nightly dance shows were entertaining and added a nice touch to our evenings.
Most problematic things: Cleanliness Issues: Dirty coffee machines, hair on furniture, stained dishes, lipstick on cups, and cigarette butts everywhere. The cleaning staff consistently ignored these issues. Poor Service Quality: No table service at the beach bar, low-quality coffee, no fresh fruit juice offered despite all-inclusive package. Not what you expect from a five-star hotel. Noise and Room Problems: Poor noise insulation meant hearing every sound from next door. The shower flooded, and smelled bad. Hair in shower and on terrace.
My detailed experience: Room 617 had a great view, but many things were disappointing for a five-star hotel. The jetted pool was so cold that we could not swim in it.
The beach bar staff were friendly, but cleanliness was poor, with hair on tables, wet spots at the bar, lipstick on a reusable plastic cup, and cigarette butts on the floor and in decorative plants ignored by cleaning staff. Waiting in line for drinks was annoying.
Food in the main restaurant was repetitive, with similar dishes like stews and rice every day. Plates were often wet or dirty, and the à la carte restaurants lacked key items like Greek coffee at the Greek specialty restaurant or Aperol Spritz and espresso at the Italian one - how is that possible?
Cleanliness was an issue everywhere. Despite complaints, coffee machines stayed dirty, and the restaurant manager gave me a disrespectful attitude when I tried to talk to him about it. Our shower leaked and caused a bad smell that never left the room. Hair on the terrace and at beach bar seating was disgusting, and cigarette butts littered the beach. Had to walk slalom on the beach to avoid them.
Noise insulation in our room was poor, with noise from neighbors disturbing our sleep. The hotel installed a simple wooden door between suites 616 and 617, with no double door or insulation, making it unacceptable for a five-star suite.
The pool and beach experience was also impacted by worn-out beach beds and floating beds. Many were dirty, ripped, and needed replacing. We avoided the floating beds due to their condition.
On October 7th, currents brought in plastic waste, turning the beach into a trash zone. I collected a lot by myself, but staff did nothing to help.
Please don‘t ignore the „bad“ reviews. We did that and got super disappointed. It really can be that bad. Seriously.
What I would improve if I were the manager of this hotel: Improve Cleanliness: Supervise cleaning staff better to ensure a clean environment across rooms, dining areas, bars, and the beach. Upgrade Service: Add table service at bars, improve coffee quality, and include fresh juice in the all-inclusive offer. Fix Room Problems: Improve soundproofing and make sure room features like showers work properly. Replace Worn Beach Furniture: Replace worn-out beach beds and floating beds to meet the comfort expected in a five-star resort. Focus on Sustainability: Use significantly less single-use plastic, add recycling options, and clean the beach daily for a better...
