Looking forward to a relaxing break and after seeing advertised hotel we arrived at 3pm. No food available until 7. Snacks were available at bar but choices were limited to a ham and cabbage wrap or a piece of melon. Snacks were all gone for the day and not replenished.|Taken to room down dusty, uneven and unlit path over 2 roads, one of these being the main road and past a rubbish dump and flooded path. No offer from staff to help woth luggage. Walk up stairs to 4th floor as no lift. Exterior of entire building is unlit.|Entered bedroom to find very outdated and dirty room. Bathroom has sink, toilet and shower. Both sink and toilet have huge cracks and floor and fittings are very stained. Shower fittings were all broken. All holders for toiletries were broken. Tried to turn air con on. Doesn't work. Tried to use tv, doesn't work. We decide to have a shower. The water doesn't drain and leaks through bathroom door in to bedroom. My partner slips on water, grabs onto sink to save his fall and sink breaks off. Some pieces fall to floor and land on his foot. We then try to relax, sit on bed which has 2 very old and very lumpy pillows and all the mattress springs stick out. When we try to lay down, the bed breaks into 2 pieces. |We decide to report all of this to reception and on 2 occasions are told to come back in the morning. We are expected to sleep in the room with no bed, no useable sink and no air-conditioning. There is no fridge so can't even keep a drink in the room. The view from the room is what can only be described as a rubbish dump. We cannot keep room doors open as balconies are open plan with very low walls which people can easily step over. There is no security and the hotel sits on a main street so anyone could just walk in. |In the morning we went to reception as requested and were told for the third time to come back again later. At this point we are expecting to speak with a manager. We finally get to see a staff member (not manager) and are asked if we'd like to go and see a new room. We are taken to a room on the first floor which is clearly a self catering apartment in exactly the same building. We can now see the sea if we look over the pool of a different hotel. This second room has a fridge. We agree to accept this for one night only but would prefer to be upgraded. I signed a from but stated that i was not satisfied with the room and wished to pay for an upgrade. We are told this isn't possible today and to try again tomorrow. |This room is also filthy and neglected. There are stains all over the floors and fittings, paint is chipped everywhere. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned. We are given the controls for air con but this doesn't work and causes water to leak both inside and outside the room. We decided to go back to reception and have to walk up the unlit uneven unpaved path where i have fallen over several times and am now covered in bruises on my left leg. When we speak to reception it is made clear that the staff already knew it didn't work when they gave us the controls. We come back to the room; it is pitch black as none of the lights on the exterior of the building work. ||We go to the pool and find it is not the one advertised when we booked the holiday. This pool is shared by all 5 hotels and is impossible to find a seat or even go in the pool due to overcrowding. There are around 20 sun loungers around it and a bar which is staffed by one unfriendly staff member. This bar closes at 18.30. There is an option to go to the restaurant bar at 19.30 and there are no other places to get refreshments from. This building where food is served provides breakfast dinner and tea for all 5 hotels and is very busy. There is a bar with only 1 staff member. The queues for drinks are really long. There is nowhere to sit outdoors and relax in the evening and no entertainment whatsoever. |After speaking with multiple guests, we have discovered lots with similar problems. Each time we went to reception there was a queue of people all asking for room changes due to the poor condition of the rooms. A few guests also suggested the building we were staying in is used for staff housing and also to house refugees. ||We are extremely upset that we booked an all inclusive holiday and were given a self catering holiday with VERY basic meals provided and no facilities to make a drink. The hotel came highly recommended by Tom at travel trek after the holiday we had purchased was no longer available after we had paid. Tom told us this hotel was actually an upgrade from our original choice. ||When ordering at the bar... I asked for a san Francisco cocktail. I was told these are not free for Fereniki guests and the only cocktail available to us are ones made with Raki or Ouzo. I dislike both of these drinks. |We eventually decide to give up spending our time pointlessly waiting at reception to be told repeatedly to come back tomorrow. Absolute...

The sign with neon letters out and at angles was the first warning, a lost reservation at 3am in the morning second warning and the first room was the last straw, unfortunately it got worse and no return flight for a week.
I have uploaded some photos from the 3rd room, i really wish i had taken photos from the first two we had. The patio doors didn't shut proply or lock fully, pressing from the outside popped them both open. The fridge is next to the cooker inside a cupboard and was rusty and dirty. The edges of the rooms where never cleaned and had mould growing especially in the bathroom. The drain was not covered in in any of the rooms we endured and needed flushing out with bleach daily to try and remove the smell, something house keeping failed to do on both occasions they actually went in to change towels or " clean ". HOuse keeping really should clean daily and make sure they empty the toilet roll bins as they dont allow for soiled toilet tissue to be flushed due to the 2 inch drains which results in soiled tissue left in the bins, not the most welcoming sight when checking inot a room!!. Beware of the door locks as the broken ones have a tendency to lock people inside bathrooms which can be seen from the photos once the mechanism is broken and the door closed without the lock being set open you will need somebody on the otherside to open it, not good for kids using bathrooms from which there is no other escape or single travellers.
Rooms near to the roads which run through the complex will get a lot of traffic noise during the night as new arrivals tend to check in from 11pm-2am, many bus drivers taxis and moped riders drive like maniacs during the night so be cautious.
All inclusive should read as full board as nothing else is included, not even water in the rooms or beach sun loungers, those are charged at 5 euros per visit and include 1 free drink per ticket, shouldyou leave to walk about the beach or for lunch you willl be charged again. Drinks are available from the bar located in the restaurant which is itself a seperate complex located in-between waste ground, best view is included from the main road that runs though the complex. The hotel complex is made of of the main hotel, beach bar, restaurant another hotal with a seperate name and another area that has been closed since mid 2017 undergoing repairs which also contains an empty pool.
The snacks which are stated as availabe are from the newer hotel under a different name, that is if any are there ( we never saw any nor anyone else with any ), and only until closing time which varies daily, the plastic cups served there are at least clean the main restaurant have a serious issue cleaning their glasses and cuttlery. None of the pools seem to be cleaned which you only find out after entering them, the faint smell is not from chlorine but is masked by the hotel sewers until your in and its too late.
The oriental section of the restaurant serves either a rice dish resembling a risotto and or pasta which is either meat of fish based, while its selection is extremely limited its preferable to anything served in the buffet restaurant and has more chance of being fresh and fly free. Luckily the area has some decent real restaurants, bars and has two shops, one under the restaurant, the one near the spa is independent sells the same things and is cheaper.
Greece is a lovely place and Crete a lovely island Georgioupolis itself is nice for the most part, the town is spoilt by the area occupied by the hotel complex but anyone visiting will see exactly what i mean, there may as well be a divide running through it where it goes down hill rapidly.
The cleanest part of the complex is the Spa which has some reasonable rates and a very cold indoor pool, it was on average 4 degrees due to being in shade and topped up with cold water once a week due to a leak.
Best of luck to anyone thats has already booked,...
Read moreStayed for a week in June. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and thought for the price it was a really good deal. The only downside was the bars.
Price It worked out at about £25 a night for my stay which was all inclusive, I got the basic single room package.
All inclusive. Depending what room you book depends on your all inclusive package (whether your blue band or silver band). The all inclusive packages are the same in everything but alcoholic drinks. If you have the silver band your options are: house red or white wine, lager, or tequila with a mixer(raki or oyzo). Those are the only drinks offered at the main pool bar and the restaurant bar regardless of band. If you go to the pool that is by the deluxe accommodation block and have a blue band you can also get vodka, whisky, rum and gin. They also offer cocktails to blue band holders which are: blue lagoon, gin fizz, san Francisco or a tequila sunrise.
You can also pay 15€ to upgrade to the deluxe all inclusive for more spirit options
Room The room was pretty dated and not the cleanest. The furniture was old, the tv didnt work, there was an additinal fee for air con and the bathroom seemed to have a mold buildup in the tile grout. That being said the shower was a good temerature and the water pressure was good so a quick shower was easy. I didnt stay in my room for anything but sleep so this wasnt an issue for me but alot of people had comlaints. They do offer a dulux package where you can pay more for a nicer room.
Pools The pools were a fair size with both pools having a deep end depth of 2.6meters, there was a small buildup on the tiles along the wateredge but otherwise the pools were pretty clean. The sun loungers were comfy and i didnt have any issues getting one for the day just bes sure to check them as some were broken.
Restaurant I do not have a single complaint about the food, there were loads of options and everything was delicious.
Location The feneriki doesnt offer any evening entertainment which is why its great that its just a short walk from town. I frequented the Corissa (another hotel) in the evening that allowed you to partake/watch the entertainment if you bought a drink. They charged 7€ for a cocktail which we'd nurse so we could watch the entertainment. There is also the Tropicana club which is a 5min walk from the hotel
Staff The staff were lovely and would do what they can to help. Everyone was friendly and welcoming
Day trips There were quite a few tourist booths about. Most of the excursions you got taken on these lil trains. The cheapest is a trip to a lake which is 5€, you get a ride there and the return trains come back every hour so you can stay as long as you want. Most of the other trips were about 20€ but they were guided tours which you go on for...
