where do I start ! , firstly I travel frequently to Greece and Corfu, and use budget hotels. so I know what to expect and what is normal. NO holiday company should be charging for rooms here , its just not an acceptable place for a holiday maker. NO kettle in the room, no facility on site to buy tea or coffee, and the hotel will not give you a kettle when asked . the breakfast was completely inadequate , no toast or toaster (,cheap hard boiled egg, ham and cheese (as standard in Greece ) dry bread watered down Greek yogurt two types of cereal , one stale , no milk just long life cream that was for tea, had to ask for hot water every day, no fresh fruit , no tomatoes , extremely poor breakfast, in fact as i dont like cereal, i couldn't actuality make a breakfast from the choice , i dont consider cake and cheese a breakfast, a toaster or toast should be offered as a minimum. the pool was closed , i had to ask them to open it, i dont believe it was cleaned while i was there and no pump was running. as for the accommodation, more like a hostel, we were right next to a duel carriageway in fact our balcony was 5 metres away from it , and extremely noisy , it never stopped day and night , these rooms should not be rented out to paying guests , the place was run down and deserted , i did note however that the better rooms the other side of the hotel seemed to have more permanent guest, perhaps the staff ? it all seemed wronf especially as this was the most ive paid for a budget hotel in Greece , mosquitoes biting you everywhere , never had it that bad anywhere else in Greece , might have been the stink from the stagnant water smell as you enter the hotel. the balcony. was dark, no view just some trees ( probably due to the road noise . so your swim stuff never dried , neither did your towels , no where to hanf stuff so my stuff now has rust marks from the metal railing. The loo seat kept coming off, my partner fixed it as hes more competent than the people at the hotel, the plug sockets were just pure danger , see pictures even for Greece this is bad . strangely one i mentioned trip adviser, a kettle turned up, 3 days into the holiday but too late Galaxias, way too late . Gouvia itself was ok , lots of restaurants but a lack of cheaper type lunch places , so we had to spend quite a bit on lunches , even your usualy cheap gyros was expensive here, a lack of choice and overcharging for food here was quite an issue for lunch , and beer was very expensive for greece as was the cab only 15 mins from the airport and over 35-45 Euros was a Micky take , you can get a bus for two euros , but we had an early flight . so to sum up , Gouvia is ok beach not far or restaurants but expensive for Greece, nothing to write home about , but this hotel, should offer decent service or close up, the only good thing was the maid service , they...
Read moreIts a cheap hotel , very basic and dreary . The beds are hard , the furnishings sad, the breakfast very ordinary right down to the watered down tang posing as orange juice. ||The wifi did not work unless you were sitting by the inadequate router at the reception desk . The man owner when questioned about the wifi looked me in the eye and asked well do I own the internet company ? It is not my fault he declared . Our friend who had a serious bit of gout while he was there and was unable to walk was told it was impossible to change rooms from his top floor room , in spite of people moving out and in each day, the owners had no compassion to help with that simple request . That I found quite shameful and not at all in keeping with what hospitality is all about . The owners were seriously in need of training to re-adjust their bad attitudes toward requests and suggestions or they should just retire and let some fresh blood with some enthusiasm and care for paying customers take over . The showers were seriously flawed as others here have mentioned , why they just can not put up a hook so the shower can be put up on the wall , its ridiculous to have such a hand held shower with a plastic curtain that sticks to your bum in such a tiny space . The shower tray served no purpose because of its minute size ...everything was flawed and needing upgrading. The price was cheap , but not cheap enough , everything was so bad it was not worth even the cheap price we paid. There was no offer of help with luggage up two flights of stairs . When we arrived there were backpackers sprawled over the lounges with their feet up on them . It felt as if we were arriving at a low grade backpackers lodge , In spite of that we had some fun at the Galaxias only because we were happy with each others company and we were only there three nights so we could have a laugh at the fawlty towers aspect of it and feel relief that with each uncomfortable night it was one night closer to getting out of the place . I am happy some people here had excellent experiences at the hotel Galaxias yet I doubt they have the correct hotel on review. All the guests at breakfast...
Read moreIt's a 2 star hotel but it's such a shame as it has lovely grounds, great location and with a little bit of care and attention would be a hidden gem.
The biggest issue with this hotel is you are walking straight into the 80s. The bathroom stinks, we kept closing the door but hk left it open. The shower is tiny, a shower curtain on both sides which does nothing to keep the water in the tray, there is no holder for the shower head so you have to hold it while washing and there is nowhere to put wash items. It's very small. We booked a double bed but got 2 singles Make sure you have air conditioning included as not all travel agents have it included and you have to pay extra. Receptionist in the afternoon is lovely, very helpful Breakfast, I think it looks bad but is mainly down to the presentation. If all the food was facing the customer would look better. Also they only put small amounts of items out at a time which makes it look like not much there. On a plus the Greek yoghurt is lovely but the breakfast is cake, toast, ham, cheese,2 cereal, egg, yoghurt and tinned peaches. Overall disappointing as is very basic but the price reflects this but, it has potential if the owners invest in...
