Opera Blue Hotel Gouvia - Across Hotels & Resorts — Hotel in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

I have to agree this hotel is not quite up to 4 star standard. It could easily be with some TLC. I will point out the good and bad of each part of the hotel.|The pool is quite small but there are enough good comfortable sunbeds for most days. The tiles of the pool need the gaps filled in but the pool area is cleaned twice a day. The pool bar is a nice area but the "drug music" is far too loud. The pool umbrellas need replacing and a few more purchased, The reception and all other staff are lovely. Our room was not over large and there was no storage space for empty suitcases. The wardrobe is adequate but not enough hangers. Not enough drawer space for undies etc. The free safe is very small and difficult to operate. The floor has a poor concrete finish. The bed is large and very comfortable with a deep, expensive mattress. Not like the usual Greek mattresses!. The air conditioning unit was quite new and was quiet and first class. The shower cubicle was roomy with lashings of hot water at all hours. The rest of the bathroom was cramped with not enough shelfing for toiletries etc. The balcony was ok with a view of the nice gardens of the hotel and close apartment blocks.|The worst part of the hotel was the breakfast. The "hot" food was lukewarm at best. Eggs, no bacon, small mini frankfurters with the occasional nice Greek sausage. Any left overs were served up the next day mixed with the mini franks. Tinned mushrooms and tomatoes sometimes. Best part was the small warm , soggy spinach pies.|I chose the cold buffet. Three types of very thinly sliced cold meat, all tasting the same. Two types of very thinly sliced cheese, again both tasting the same. Cucumber and tomato fresh crispy and tasty. Best of all was the Corfiot small black olives, lovely. This hotel should be black listed! Seriously disgusting. My first room 307 was mosquito invested, dim, dark, concrete flooring all through, no floor covering. Bathroom same, mouldy and no tiling just concrete! No mattress protector on bed. Could not open fridge door due to broken cupboard door. As it was late. I stayed the night but it got worse when I opened the rather insecure balcony door. Ground floor, opening onto a messy yard with rubbish dumped in surrounding neighbours yards.|I had also noticed an odour at the hotel! I requested a room change. Explained problems and showed photos to receptionist. Later that day I was given 401 on first floor. First floor of hotel! Only improvement was bed mattress was protected and I could access the fridge. The balcony was just big enough for a cafe style table and 2 chairs and this time overlooked worse rubbish, Infact like a rubbish tip, it also was closely opposed to residential apartments so no privacy. I had to call maintenance to attend to the stench from the bathroom.|The smell outside the hotel was so bad it made me heave. I could not use my balcony due to privacy and being asthetically awful or pool & bar due to stench erupting intermittently. Other guests were also complaining. Breakfast was not great, lots of processed meat & cheese! Thankfully there was Greek yoghurt and fruit!|I cannot believe this hotel is listed with tour operators!|Gouvia itself is mostly a tacky, dirty, smelly, litter ridden place, with shops selling vile printed T-Shirts! There are a few good restaurants and one nice shop selling Olive Wood and Honey,but otherwise don’t touch it!|Despite researching hotel and surrounding area, I made a huge mistake. Hotel looked promising at first, room was ok bathroom need definitely needs updating ac good. Beds cheaply made hard board built around frame it should have been slats.underneath. Breakfast very basic nothing special. The Pool area was good, staff friendly for the first few days then today, June 3rd 2025 had a load of people turn up with security men. Thought someone famous was appearing like a famous celebrity. Instead Turing up was the new people for the show called love is blind which is being filmed in Corfu. I. Asked staff for a drink at the bar, took half hour because they gave full attention to the new bees turning up. We asked if the food grilling station was open today which is next door to the hotel, for lunch. manger said no it’s closed today. but magically had food for the new team of security men and filming crew but not for guest who was there before. That day, I was asked by manger if I could leave a positive message on trip advisor was going to be honest. This was in the early in the morning we spoke Not until 11ish when this film set turned up rest of the guest was forgotten about until I started moaning we ordered drinks over half hour ago. No sorry, we will discount your drinks for the long wait. No had to pay full price which I found to be a joke because of the long wait. Sorry your guest come first, the ones who all ready here not just some film crew and give them full attention and give them what they want. People around the pool was moaning about the food situation and why we was told that the grilling station was closed for guest, but magically open for the new guest not for the remaining ones.
