Paralia Gouvia — Attraction in Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian

Be wary as a solo traveller (especially women). Went to this beach as it was local and liked the quietness/hospitality. However, one of the men who rents the beds saw me put my umbrella down. Within 20 seconds he was over to me taking it away. I told him I was going to put it back up (I am from northern europe so we're not used to the heat). To which he put the umbrella back into place, and with an open hand swung at my face (which made contact with my head). There were at least 60 odd people left on the beach, so it was not like I was the last to leave. I confronted him not to do it again and he was trying to walk away as I did so. Not sure he would have done this if I was with a male companion. Gorgeous beach ruined for me by innappropriate behaviour...

This beach is probably only nice for you, if you never stayed at any other beaches in Greece. Dirty waters, expensive sunbeds (and very rude pple selling the) no toilets, a single changing space with trash stashed all around inside (like used tampons etc), the beach bar is a joke and there is literally nothing to do. There are so many other beaches in Corfu with fantastic beach bars, cheap or free sunbeds, beautiful clear waters where you can swim with fishes instead of this dirt. Do have to admit, there is a nice view to the harbor, peninsula with forest and nice villas. Probably only worth to come here if you are staying in a very nice hotel, I recommend Dreams - the only place that has a nice...

We stayed at the beautiful marina vista studios corfu right on the beach of Gouvia, from making the booking Paula the host could not have been more helpful, having a baby we needed to know that everything we needed was there or readily available to buy, she gave us lots of different places to visit and places to eat, most nights we picked up takeaways and ate on the beach or on the balcony with the stunning views, the whole holiday was amazing, definitely return, also as there is no pool, 5 minutes down the road is Spiti Prifti you can use there facilities as long as you buy a drink (this is not a requirement...
