Not a 4 let alone 5 star hotel.
Whilst the entrance and foyer give a good first impression, it pretty much stops there.
Rooms are very dated and dark, not cleaned to a good standard despite requests (floors were filthy, mold on bathroom tiles was still there when we checked out 10 days later, cups not cleaned and tea/coffee etc not replenished daily).
Service was pretty dismal all round, no personality, no smiles and greetings no conversation, most staff are just there to do a job and leave. The major exception was Irini at the pool bar who was exceptionally good, fast and friendly, whenever she took a break two people couldn't keep up with the demand and service suffered.
In the restaurant, which is all buffet style, whilst a large selection, there's very little authentic Greek food, and none as good as the Greek food in local tavernas. The majority of food stays the same with only a few main dishes rotating. Staff here are sparse and those who are present are more interested in whipping your plate out from under you to clean it leaving you with no plate or cutlery than actually serving you or setting tables correctly.
The a la carte restaurant offers very limited choice and very similar to that on offer in the main restaurant. Service here was equally terrible. Our a la carte meal was ended early when the eveing entertainment started and they switched the lights off during our dessert and didn't serve coffee.
Now the pools, there are two, plus a baby pool. The pool nearest reception features a swim up bar and is lovely, it has modern comfortable sunbeds and tiled floors. A fair number of these sunbeds were torn or repaired with bolts, but on the whole most were pretty decent. Service at the pool bar impeccable as aforementioned. Unfortunately you had to be up at 7am to reserve a bed here with a towel as by 8am they were all gone!
Pool areas are not tidied daily, just general cleaning, beds are not replaced and scattered over walkways where left by guests.
Now the other pool at the beach end of the resort, whilst large and plenty of summer beds, it was the centre of entertainment for the 'animation' team. Water polo and aerobics took over the shallow end so children were forced into the 3m deep end, not ideal, very loud shouting from the polo and animation team and music blaring all around made this a less than relaxing area. Although abundant, sunbeds were dated plastic variety. Floors here are stone and pebble, not great on bare feet especially for the little ones, and several areas of the pool had sharp tiles. It is no wonder guests fought to reserve beds In the more modern upper pool, the contrast was striking and felt like two separate hotels.
The pool towels provided were also very frayed and worn and looked several seasons old, so when one of ours was pinched we were pretty unpleased to be threatened with a 15 euro fine, luckily the receptionist gave in and replaced it after our complaint.
Whilst we made me most of our holiday, the main issue we did have was that this hotel was advertised as child friendly, well we had to go up and down at least 7 flights if stairs to get to and from the restaurant and pool, not even small flights see picture attached. There were steps everywhere, by the bar, by the pool, we couldn't take our eyes off the kids for a moment for fear of them falling down steps. I would urge any family with toddlers or young kids to consider this fact carefully.
The beach was very narrow and steep, small pebbles not sand, and large rocks under the surface. Rough sea with a steep drop. Not great for adults let alone kids.
Needless to say all things considered, we wont be returning. A shame, because the place has...
Read moreThis resort is really lovely. I visited for a week at the beginning of September with my 18 year old grand daughter. The room was perfect with a King size and a single bed, fridge and nice balcony. Fully air conditioned. We were warned that it is not really suitable for disabled people as there are quite a lot of stairs within the complex. The main building is single storey so no lifts but quite a lot of stairs throughout the complex. I just took it slowly as we were never in a rush to get from A to B. Our room was very close to the main pool area which was a bonus but then that meant that the greater distance was to the Dining Room shops and Reception. The shops sold almost everything you might need from souvenirs to beach wear and sun creams.||There are so many activities available every day run by a wonderful and friendly young crew who spoke English, Italian, Greek, French and possibly more languages that we did not recognise. The activities included pool aerobics, yoga, Petanque, snooker, darts, karaoke, water polo and many more games for both adults and children. You were never pressured to join in and it was fun to watch.||As it was in September there were not too many children around as most schools had returned but there were a few families with babies and small children.||We did book a day out by coach to join a large boat which was very good and my grand daughter swam off the back as did most other people. The water was beautiful and clear. This was a typical tourist trip visiting a local Olive oil factory enroute where of course you are expected to buy something. It included a BBQ lunch on board but where it was BBQ'd I don't know!! The food was not good so I'm not sure I'd bother with a trip like this again. We did also take a trip by taxi to the adjoining town where there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the sea front which was very nice. Taxi cost 10 euros each way and we were told by the hotel reception not to pay any more than this when coming back. There seemed to be lots of water parks in the area but as we did not visit them I cannot comment but for families I'm sure they are very popular.||The main Nationality of the other guests when we were there appeared to be Italian. ||The complex was extremely clean with lovely very well established Palm trees and very beautiful pink and purple bougainvillea bushes everywhere. The food was extremely good, plentiful and available for most of the day if you were "all inclusive" as we were and all of the staff from reception, restaurants and bar staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The Bar staff in particular remembered what you liked to drink and warmly welcomed you when you returned.||There were speciality food nights available which were served in the poolside restaurant where you were expected to be more formally dressed (no beachwear etc.) and you had to book this in advance. We did this once and it was very nice but the selection in the main restaurant was so varied that it suited us better. ||We had booked a private transfer from the airport to the hotel which was very efficient and it took about 1/2 hour to get there. As our flight had been delayed it was pretty late when we arrived but the hotel had laid on food and drinks in the restaurant which was unexpected but very much appreciated after the four hour flight and late arrival from London.||I would highly recommend this resort but it would not be suitable if you were...
Read moreWe came here for our first holiday as family of 3. It’s really special for us and we’re looking forward to it for 5months. |When we arrived to the hotel for our biggest surprised we were the only ones who left the bus and chosen to stay in this particular resort. |It makes you worry, does not it? |Anyway, we’ve checked in. I feel like it’s important to mentioned that when we booked we paid for upgrade. As we have 8 month old baby we needed easy access to pushchair etc. we paid for ground floor bungalow room with garden view. |When we were led to the room we realised that there was awkwardly lots of steps to our room. We were not on the ground floor, garden view was awkward huge tree disguising everything you could try to see. |We were looking forward to our room too as we were expecting it to be bigger and that our little one would have space to crawl around. Unfortunately, floor was incredibly dirty and our little one did not have chance to demonstrate his new skill (crawl) for the whole week. Well he did, in a coffee shop in town and airport lounge pre departure. |Room was dated in general, but did not mind it too much as we were only sleeping there. Shame tho for little one he was getting frustrated not being able to crawl. Later on we just got lots of blankets and put it on the floor that he could wonder around a little. |Food was decent. Repetitive but no faults there. |Ladies in dinning room were very helpful and playful with our little one. Same as lady from spa centre. Thank you for your patience. It made our holiday. |We did not go to see entertainment as our little one being scared by the clown, who was going around the pool trying to get people to come. |In general it was pleasant. We did not really spend lots of time at the hotel as we were going for hikes etc. top pool was chill and baby slept very well throughout his nap times. |During our last meal one of the staff put us off and only cause of him we would not come back. |As mentioned above, we have 8month old baby. He has been having a little pasta, cucumber and some watermelon all week. And yes, he drops some of the floor and we always pick up majority of it before staff tells us leave it and that they would take care of it. During our dinner for the last time, managed to get one spoonful of food into my mouth when rude, middle aged waiter came to us and loudly started commenting and telling me to clean up baby’s watermelon from the floor. |We always take care of it, as we worked in hospitality and know how it feels, but he’s action ruined my appetite. |He was keep staring at our table and when my partner left the table to get some water, he was walking past us and pointing with his finger to his colleague. Tables next to us started to stare and some of them said sorry for having to experience that. |To be fair, mainly for that reason we would be chowing different hotel for our upcoming...
