Quite a small complex which is nice for meal times and queues at the bars.|We arrived at 12.30am, the coach drops you on the main road outside of the hotel, first problem we encountered was no sign to the reception we just followed the road, would have helped for - reception this way.|There was a queue for checkin so the receptionist / porter told us to use the restaurant and come back when we had eaten, which was good, tea/coffee machines were working as well as wine/beer and soft drinks, limited food available, rolls, salad, ham and cheese.|Second problem the room the family 2 girls and a boy (family 2 of them were adults) was allocated was a double bed and a bed settee we had asked for a family double room, 1am in the morning we told them to use the room and was assured the room would be changed in the morning - to give credit to the reception staff in the morning the room was changed, the night porter had said they family would be moved near to our other rooms, the reception team told us where we were were all double rooms, but the room they moved them to was lovely better than the other 2 rooms.|No kettle in the room, the porter told me tea and coffee was available 24/7, I don't know where as the tea / coffee machines in the restaurant were closed after breakfast if tea / coffee was required you had to go to one of the bars.|No water given there is a fridge in the rooms, all inclusive water should be available.|The reception team did give me a kettle and later cups to be able to have a cup of tea either in the morning or before bed.|The pool bar near the childrens pool did not serve alcohol apart from beer and wine, if you are on holiday you would not leave children at the pool while going to the adults pool to get a drink.|I found the bar staff 'disappeared' one day I was waiting for over 10 mins for him to return the this was not for his lunch.|The information for the hotel said activities, I asked the guy who was in charge of this he seemed surprised, no water activities as the polo net had been broken but nothing put on instead.|In the evening we said on the chairs outside the bar under the trees, these were all 'sticky' form sap? clothes stained from these.|2 nights there was evening entertainment but this happened at the pool bar (next to childrens pool) but the bar was closed!|Only one bar open in the evening and one person serving the queue sometimes was quite long, had to wait a while|the selection of drinks was poor, 4 cocktails, didn't have a drink I liked.|When at the pool table no quick access to toilets you either have to go to the adults bar - down as set of stairs, reception or to the childrens pool, toilets at the childrens pool had no locks on the doors, all toilets were often lacking hand towels but the check sheet for staff was ticked as checked, the ones at the staff pool I didn't find until day 4.|Shower pressure in our room was very good but shower leaked under screen so ended up with a very wet floor, other had poor pressure, door to bathroom was old and cracked.|The staff made up for any problems we encountered, the dining room staff were lovely and tried to make sure we could all sit...
Read moreWe stayed at Katrin Hotel & Bungalows in Stalis for 9 nights and honestly left feeling very underwhelmed. I’m genuinely shocked this hotel is rated 4 star, because our experience didn’t reflect that at all.||When we first arrived, we were really disappointed with our initial room – it was very dated and the beds were rock hard. We hardly slept the first night. To the hotel’s credit, they handled it brilliantly and moved us straight away to a much nicer room. The adult pool area was lovely and relaxing, and most of the staff around the hotel were friendly and helpful. The location is definitely one of the highlights – just a few minutes’ walk from the main strip, shops, and the beach.||Unfortunately, the negatives far outweighed the positives. The food was repetitive and bland. Breakfast and dinner were poor, with only Greek cuisine offered once during our entire 9-day stay, which was really disappointing. The lunches were the best meal of the day, but overall, the food quality didn’t live up to expectations. On top of that, there was a strong sewage smell around the hotel on most days.||The cats roaming around the restaurant were another issue. They were rubbing against guests’ legs and even jumping up for food, and the staff just ignored it completely.||The drinks were terrible. The water tasted like sun cream, the soft drinks were overly sweet, and the only diet option was a cola that was undrinkable. The spirits were awful – they tasted like nail varnish remover. I’ve been to plenty of all-inclusives and never expected premium brands, but these were so bad we ended up buying our own drinks from the supermarket.||The pool bars were hardly manned, and when they were, there was hardly anything on offer. The “snacks” were just a few cakes in a plastic box on the bar. The main bar didn’t even open until 6pm, and overall, there was no atmosphere anywhere in the hotel.||The entertainment was practically non-existent. The schedule advertised evening shows, but we waited for several that never actually happened. The facilities were also poor – pool tables were in bad condition, the ping pong table and racquets were broken, and there was no water polo because the nets were damaged.||Our room cleaning was disappointing too – the bathroom and toilet were rarely cleaned properly, and it seemed like the cleaners just straightened the beds rather than doing a full clean. The fridge in the room didn’t get cold, so drinks stayed warm.||We also enquired about late checkout for our evening flight and were told it would cost €50, which is the most we’ve ever been asked to pay for this anywhere.||What really surprised us is how many positive reviews this hotel has online – it’s the reason we booked in the first place, but our experience just didn’t match up at all.||Overall, while the location and a few of the staff were lovely, the food, drinks, entertainment, and facilities were a huge letdown. With better management and some serious improvements, this could be a great hotel, but as it stands, I wouldn’t rate it 4-star and sadly...
Read moreAfter our collection from the airport we were the joint 2nd / 3rd drop off which was good as was only around a 30 min coach ride.
After booking in we used the lift to our double bedroom suite. It was spotless clean and the air conditioning was excellent. Bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower that can be adjusted for temperature and pressure.
The restaurant was the usual self self buffet. All good food, plenty of choice however, like everywhere, it can get a bit samey after a while.
The 2 adult only pools we did not used.
Sunshine Pool for us with our 10 & 11 year old girls. The pools (somehow) were absolutely freezing 🥶. I can only guess they dont get covered for the evening. The kids loved them both and loved the endless soft drinks. Sunbeds were OK but showing their age now & have no additional padding unlike the adult pool loungers that looked new & very comfortable.
On the Thursday we arrived there was 2 Gentlemen playing & singing songs, however that was it. 100% that's it. Absolutely no entertainment for the kids despite the leaflet that reception gave us saying it was on 6 nights a week.
The evening bar man is called Dennis (Goatee beard & leather waistcoat) and is absolutely BRILLIANT & a proper Gentleman.
All on all my (our) 4 out 5 rating is fair.
NOW THE BAD BITS........ So, for only 1 night there was an incredibly rude and obnoxious bar man that simply had no place in a venue like this. We & others all complained about him & infact we did not see him again.
The next problem is the night time receptionist. "Stefan". Absolute disgrace to the hotel and hopefully will not be brought back next season. Rude, arrogant and very unpleasant to "try" to talk to.
Problem 3....... Cats. Strays, verman, pets whatever you want to call them, the complex is full of them. They seem friendly but you can't be fooled. We have a cat so know how to treat them. After telling the girls not to pet them as we dont know if they carry diseases, we backed down & one of the horrible beasts (whilst been petted) snapped and turned, scratched & then bite my girlfriend. Drew a tiny little bit of blood. So a trip to the pharmacy for advice was in order the next day.
So that's it! Lots more positive...
