Another fantastic Marni stay.||Six of us - my wife and I, plus three 'kids' aged 22, 20 and 18, and a grown up girlfriend, stayed for 12 nights across three accommodation types; Deluxe maisonette (room 804) with private pool for Mum and Dad, two bedroom apartment for son and daughter, one bedroom studio for son and his girlfriend.||Deluxe maisonette is fabulous. Pool is a good size and all six of us were in it at one point. Four excellent, adjustable sun loungers with head cushion plus table and chairs on patio. Infinity pool with views of sea in the distance - and very private. Nobody can see you to the front and because of the dividing wall placement, only when people are stood up on the edge of the pool can you see over/be seen. We had a little kitchenette with toaster, kettle, fridge, microwave and portable hob. Fine for basic meals. Lounge and sofabeds downstairs, queen size double bed and en-suite shower room upstairs. Really good quality room. The kids' rooms were well appointed and comfortable.||Marni has so many huge plus points, from the staff, to the accommodation, the food, the shared pools, the site, everything. The service is top notch from first moment to last. We love the food in the restaurant, just a shame one or two Cretan dishes have gone since our last visit. The restaurant staff feel like extended family and remembered us from last time, which was lovely. We usually lunched at the restaurant.||Right on the edge of Koutouloufari, it's ideally positioned for evenings out. There are many restaurants and tavernas to choose from. There is also a more refined/higher end restaurant at the top of the Marni site (over the road outside the rear gate) called the Blue Moon which has an excellent, lofted vista and specialises in steaks. Also, over the road at the front is a shop with a lovely little bakery and very friendly staff. Their pistachio croissants are exceptional - but pretty much everything they do is great tbh, but they sell out of stuff fairly quickly so get in there prior to 9am for the full selection.||Marni is the perfect set up for families with older kids that need their own rooms. We shall return! Book with confidence. Thanks for another fantastic...
Read moreLovely Marni village Family of four, inc two teenagers. 10 nights in July. Self catering.
Rooms We had an apartment that was big enough for us and the four suitcases. The room could have been bigger or have more shelves for storage if I’m being very picky. Decor was nice.
Bathroom is big with a good walk in shower, takes a while to get hot early in the morning but it’s great. Has the drench big head and the smaller hand held if needed. Nice tiles too. Big mirror. Shampoo and shower gel inc.
Bedroom Double bed with memory foam mattress. Big wardrobe which has the safe in and and iron. Hair dryer also in the room. Big mirror and dresser.
Living room Our teenagers were in there and no complaints from them.
Air con is very good but only one unit in the bedroom and so have to have the bedroom door open to keep the kids cool in the living room.
Staff Staff are great, really helpful too.
Pools Three pools, top, middle and bottom. Top is tiny and on a steep hill so we didn’t bother. Middle is the main pool, good size and quality of flooring in and around the pool. The restaurant and main bar is next to this pool.
Lots of sun beds and shades but get there before 8:45 I suggest.
Bottom pool is smaller but still a good size - this seemed like the quieter pool when we were there. Good bar at this pool also. Good amount of beds here too.
Food We paid for breakfast and lunch a few times. Breakfast was buffet style but great quality - probably one of the better ones we’ve had and we’ve had a lot of holidays.
Lunch is nice also.
Cleanliness Spotless everywhere. Rooms were cleaned really well and fresh towels every other day.
WiFi Good WiFi throughout the complex inc rooms and by the pools.
Location Lovely quiet location but a two minute walk into old town for restaurants etc - beautiful.
Complex is on a steep hill so if mobility is an issue it could be a challenge.
All in all this a fantastic hotel/complex and the best compliment I can give it is we’d stay there...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our trip to Marni Village. We stayed in a superior room in block 5 above the main pool. This apart-hotel is built on quite a steep hill, and whilst there are ramps everywhere, if mobility is an issue, you might wish to look elsewhere. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, including the reception and restaurant staff.
The room was comfortable and spacious, although the facilities weren’t great for self catering. A two ring hob for cooking with a saucepan, frying pan and gravy pan and a small selection of cooking implements. There was also a microwave with grill, but no oven function, and a small fridge with single freezer drawer, so whilst functional, I wouldn’t consider doing big family meals. The extractor hood vented directly into the cupboard above rather than extracting elsewhere so we managed to set off the smoke alarm once 🤣 A toaster, kettle, and filter drop coffee filter were provided in our room too. However, I think the expectation is that you go out for dinner. Nb, if you’ve not booked breakfast with your accommodation, then it was charged at €11 per head per day.
There is a small supermarket a 2-3min walk from the property for essentials such as bread, milk and alcoholic drinks. A further 10 mins stroll will bring you into the ‘three villages’ which has a good selection of tavernas and other restaurants as well as more mini-markets, jewellery and art shops.
There is a SPAR hypermarket in the local area, but is really a taxi/drive away. Taxi trips seemed to be €10 to/from the port/supermarkets, so if you’re planning on going to the action, you might prefer to book a hire car for a few days.
For those visiting Marni Village in 2023, they’re (re)building a new accommodation block, and whilst this didn’t disturb us, there was some occasional building noise.
We would definitely visit again, and speaking to other couples who were on their 2nd, 3rd or 4th visits, this seems to be a...
