The hotel and grounds are stunning, meticulously clean with the most attentive, kind and genuinely warm staff. Their team spirit and genuine commitment to you having a good time is palpable.||Room|I had booked an open plan family room last year as it was all that was coming up online.|I emailed the hotel asking for upgrade prices as really wanted a 2 bed room now the kids are getting older (12 and 9) and because it was our 20 year anniversary.|There was no availability so i left it at that.|On arrival, we were gifted an upgrade to a 2 bed family suite in the 900 block, and it was just beautiful. Great view, sharing pool and the 900 bar was great, the staff gave me and the kids daily Greek lessons. I also really loved the shower gel/shampoo/conditioner. They sell it in the hotel shop and I wish I had bought some to bring home. Incidentally, the onsite shop is large and not at all overpriced in comparison to others I have visited. 50 cents for a 2 litre bottle of water (which is needed in addition to the complimentary ones left in the rooms daily - although there are refill stations everywhere too and the bar staff will refill on request) ||Waterpark, the main selling point for us, was fantastic. |Great variety of slides, really good fun. Better than some standalone parks I have been to in Europe. Staff were totally on it with safety and the snack bar and unlimited ice creams were brilliant. Am going to miss my gyros lunch!.||Restaurants|The app was a bit glitchy on arrival, so i went straight to guest relations and Eva helped me get reservations in 4. Late times for all but that was ok for us with older kids.|Our favourite was Almyra, exquisite food, setting right on the seafront and classy service.|Enso and Abrazo were also very good, with a surprise dessert arranged for our anniversary.|The Veranda was disappointing, very chaotic as there was a wedding party on the same night and the party tunes were blaring, so we chose to leave without dessert as it was getting late.|We had a phone call the next day to ask for feedback and got a gift in the room to apologise for the experience, again great service.|I generally dislike the buffet experience and sadly the Poseidon was no exception. The food was ok but fairly standard all inclusive. The Elia was lovely for breakfast, much calmer and quieter for the neurodiverse, some mornings there was hardly anyone there, best kept secret, definitely use it! ||Trips|We used guest relations to book a couple of trips, to Knossos Palace and Heraklion and a Horse Riding trip in the mountains. There are a variety to chose from and booking was easy.||Drinks|A couple of small improvements could be more non alcoholic drinks options, as only 3 cocktails that are juice and syrup, or Heineken zero. Some 0% spirits or wine would be welcome.||Cats. |We are cat lovers and there are several that roam around, well cared for and tame. However, just be mindful they are not pets, as I saw lots of children cuddling them, but and my little boy was bitten on the hand by one whilst he attempted to feed it (I dropped the ball). Staff again were very attentive and called to check on him, but he had to have precautionary antibiotics on our return home. ||Facilities and entertainment. |My husband used the outdoor gym, and I joined in a couple of the morning Pilates/yoga classes and used the spa (tapped out of the cross fit/circuits as am not that fit and think i was close to death, but if you are fitter than me definitely give it a go! The spa, which is much more my speed was lovely, great facial and pedicure|Evening entertainment is not something that is very important to us as a family so the shows weren't really our cup of tea|I felt there could be a bit more in the way of organised sporting activities for older kids (especially as we had a couple of days of unfavourable weather). Mine enjoyed the daily football and water polo. We also played mini golf/table tennis and padel (racket hire not included)|The waterpark and entertainment are shared facilities with the Village hotel next door and it was a little galling at times to see Village guests using the pools that Palace guests pay a premium for. This needs to be better monitored.||That said I'm missing the place desperately already and cannot find anywhere else so far that measures up. I would definitely return, and am eyeing up the Grand Villa/private pool rooms for a future family...
Read moreI arrived back today from Stella palace and all I could think of doing was leaving a review and researching flights for next year.
My self and my partner along with our 3 children have just come back from the most amazing holiday at Stella palace we came with my partners mum, husband, brother and sister so 9 of us in total.
We booked the direct pool access rooms and were placed by the 900 bar. The rooms were clean well maintained and a pleasure to walk into on your first arrival. The doors open up on to an immaculate shared pool with high quality sunbeds all the way round along with parasols to keep in the shade should you wish to. There are enough sun beds placed around the pool for everyone to use not including the 2 allocated beds that you get with your room also.
At this area on the hotel you will find the best bar staff I have come across on my numerous different holidays. In the day time you will be served by Yiannis and in the evening Nikos and Vibian these 3 bar tenders made our holiday not just because they make the most amazing cocktails but they make you laugh they are welcoming they play some great music especially Nikos in the evening amazing cocktails and good vibes ! These guyse are a fantastic edition the staff at this hotel.
The food in all restaurants was perfect , I would quite happily pay for food like this in England. You have the choice of Greek, seafood, Steak house, Asian and Mexican i cannot pick a favourite as they were all amazing and we generally felt excited to go out for dinner in the evening. The buffet to my surprise was good I haven't had a great experience at buffets in the past but it was nice , the food was fesh well presented and they never ran out of anything, the waiters/waitresses kept the place immaculate and brought drinks to.you promptly
In the morning we would visit the veranda for breakfast, again buffet style but with the opportunity for have fresh omelettes to be made and pancakes. Buffet breakfast was eggs, bean, hashbrowns, fruit and pastries.
In the afternoon you have the buffet, but the best places snack bar at the water park serving burgers, gyros and salad or the burger shack by the main pool with onion rings and of course burgers.
In the evening there is multiple bars and different things happening all over , from live singers to saxophone players, late night Djs , pool parties which happen every 2 weeks, fireworks and shows, you cannot get bored at this hotel.
The water park is brilliant we were so lucky to have the location we did it was literally a 2 minute walk to the water park which has tall slides with rubber rings and massive water play zone with slides and an area for the smaller children too.
The location of the hotel puts it with in walking distance to multiple local restaurants serving great food. It's worth visiting these places if you can they are seasonal so rely heavily on the tourist seasons, they give great service along with great food. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport.
The onside shop is well priced and carrys everything from water floaties, tobacco , cigarettes, food, cold drinks, beers, souvenirs. You can also inflate any floaties outside the shop using the generator.
The beach is nice , the water is clear and warm. There is water sports down the road such as jet skis and boats.
The hotel has about i different pools including a kids pool with small water slides next to a park. An infinity pool , a pool with swim up bar.
I would like to point out that it's the staff that contribute massively to a great holiday and that's what we had at Stella palace they really do deserve recognition for the fantastic jobs that they all do.
I could keep going on about this hotel it was the best holiday we have been on and I will definitely be returning
I have sat to try and think of the negatives but in all honesty unless you want to get down to the really petty things like shower pressure there really isn't any other than the prices seem to have increased dramatically making it hard for us to...
Read moreWe stayed for a week and had an excellent time. Rooms: We had 2 rooms with a pool view and couldn't fault them. The aircon stayed on all day even without the room card in the electric slot. The beds were comfortable. A very large tv for a hotel room. The shower pressure was the best of any hotel I've ever stayed at. The provided shower gel and shampoo were excellent. The room came with embroided bathrobes and slippers. The cleaner was fantastic. We left tablets, phones, cash and even watches lying around and nothing was ever touched other than put in a nice pile on the dresser whilst cleaning. Food: We found the buffet to excellent. A lot of different options and all good quality. There was always something special at the live cooking section and the pizza was fantastic every night. The breakfast was very samey every day but we find this with every hotel. Note you can have breakfast in the Greek buffet as well and the views are excellent plus it stays open an extra hour and is a lot quieter. The Greek restaurant for dinner was fantastic we had the lamb and potatoes and although it doesn't look much it will surprise you it was amazing. We ate at the steak house and it was very good. The only criticism with the steak house is you get half of a new potato with your steak other than that it was very good and has an amazing sea view. The Mexican restaurant is by far the best food on the resort its not even close. We are a family of six and we all ordered different things and it was all perfect from start to finish. It has an amazing wood fired oven on view and the food was cooked perfectly. It's also worth mentioning the food court in the water park. Whilst it won't win any awards it's perfect for family's with something for everyone and much better than any other snack bar we've had at any other resorts. There are multiple spots for ice cream, slushys, pancakes and waffles around the resort through the day although the waterpark has the best ice creams by far. The Greek restaurant serves poolside snacks through the day as well. Also worth a mention is how good the staff were with allergies. Nothing was too much trouble and if our little one didn't like anything on the menu then the chef would make hime something. This was the case at the buffet and all of the restaurants. Service: The best service of any resort we have stayed at by a country mile. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left nothing was too much trouble. All of our bags taken care of for us. Checking in was smooth and efficient and we were soon escorted to an electric buggy to be taken to our apartments. Not being used to this kind of service I tried to take our bags to our rooms to be told "no sir you are here to enjoy your holiday please this is my job and I enjoy it" this was a sentiment that carried on through our entire stay. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, the would all greet you as you walked by and were especially good with the children. The service alone would make us return. Entertainment: The children loved the entertainment each evening and the man in charge was excellent with them. We won the bingo our first night there so the wife got a free massage and we also sent our young daughter along who loved it. There is a mini disco every evening that the younger ones loved. The pool party is special we had a fantastic evening the atmosphere was through the roof with small children, teenagers, adults and even pensioner's all enjoying a great night together. Even the people in their rooms surrounding the pool were on their balconies dancing and taking videos there aren't many places I've been to that have achieved an atmosphere like it. All of the evening shows were very good. The resort: You will struggle to find a resort as well kept as this. There was no part that felt any worse than the rest. This place was spotless I don't think I saw any rubbish on the floor the whole time I was their. The waterpark is a fantastic feature that we visited daily, there is something for everyone. 5/5...
