I had a great experience here! The staff were very helpful and accommodating — since I stayed longer, they kindly changed my room for me three times without any problems. The views of Gytheio port are beautiful and really made the stay special.
The only downside was parking. Between July 20th and August 20th, there’s no hotel parking available, so I sometimes had to search for up to an hour and walk a long distance back. But, If you plan to enjoy activities in and around Gytheio, having a car is almost essential. The town itself is walkable, but many of the best experiences are spread out along the coast or tucked into the surrounding hills. Beautiful beaches like Mavrovouni or Valtaki, cultural sites such as the ancient theatre of Gytheio, and day trips to Mani or Monemvasia are much easier to reach with your own vehicle.
Public transportation is limited, and taxis can be expensive for frequent trips. With a car, you’ll have the flexibility to explore at your own pace, discover hidden coves, stop at small tavernas along the way, and enjoy the scenic drives that make Laconia so special. For travelers who want more than just the town center, renting or bringing a car makes the difference between seeing a little and truly experiencing everything Gytheio has to offer. Other than that, everything else was excellent, and I’d...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at Pantheon City Hotel. It's a medium sized hotel in Gythio, right at the seaside. Our room was very clean and well maintained. We booked a room with a seaside view, which didn't cost much more than a standard room. We had a beautiful view from our balcony on the second floor! The hotel's locations is right in the middle of Gythio. It's only a couple minutes away from dozens of little restaurants. Gythio is definitely no mass tourism town, this is where you'll experience the true Greece coastal town life. It's rhe perfect location to explore Mani. We visited places like Monemvasia and Limeni.
The check-in at the hotel was quick and easy. Breakfast is served as a buffet with quite some different options. Some of the tables have a great view of the little harbor. Parking is available for free all around the town, but sometimes it might be hard to find a spot nearby, you might have to walk a couple minutes to the hotel.
I highly recommend this hotel when you're staying in Gythio and want to explore the Mani region. I'll stay here again if I...
Read morePantheon hotel is located at the main street of Gythio, beside the sea. It has a view of the sea and the rest of the city (if you choose the front rooms with sea view and not the rooms with partial/side view of the sea). The staff is really friendly. Clean room that has a large double bed (as we requested) but with this big double bed this certain room seems to be not that big (but it ok for most couples) . Breakfast is good in order to get the energy you need to start the day. It has cereals, coffee, tea, eggs, omelets, cheese and ham, some fruits, marmalades and tahini, juice, bread and some more to choose. I would suggest you to choose the front rooms with the view of the sea including breakfast. Recommend this hotel if you visit Gythio and choose a room...
