'Mela studios' was lovely. In general, it's a good place to pass 10 days at, even more. Very homey. Now a bit from my personal experience: The room had enough space for me and my partner. Very equipped, if I knew the specifications of the equipment I could pack differently. For instance, bring an HDMI cable for the TV and connect my laptop to watch movies. There's a variety of kitchen tools (a big and a small pot, a medium pan, a strainer, spoons, cutlery, plates, cups, spatula...), and the stove is very strong. I cooked omelettes, pasta with sauce, oatmeal etc. There's a small refrigerator, a bit too powerful my fruits froze. The kettle: The heating body inside it is a bit dirty, I tried to clean it with boiling lemon water but it's not perfect. The water however does turn out hot enough for coffee and tea. They come out with some gunk in it, probably from the exposed heating body inside the kettle. The supermarket is 3 minutes walk away so it was a pleasure to get by. It's quite big for a small town. There are a lot of mosquitoes, but I found different kinds of repellents in the drawer.
For those who are sensitive to noises during their sleep: keep in mind there are a few chickens which start calling around 4am until the late hours of the morning. Also, some dogs were barking but not too frequently. The walls are thin so I could hear our neighbours from the other room chatting and moving furniture. For me personally most of these issues were solved by connecting a "white noise machine" during the night and it eased out 99% of those sounds. I could sleep despite my highly sensitive hearing.
The place was pretty clean, we tried keeping it tidy because it's polite. Also the owner came everyday and arranged and cleaned. She changed our towels every other day. Great service and she was available for everything we needed. Even for extra blankets (we slept with air conditioning, the windows don't have nets installed so without AC it was hot in the nights), and toilet paper. For those who care about insects: There were a few spiderwebs and ants, and our room was on the ground floor so a cockroach got inside but for me personally it's tolerable. I'm assuming some of the readers of this review would want to know. In general, this area was very chill, you can't hear the noise of scooters, people, cars, honking... the apartment was clean and homey , the bed was comfy and the shower was alright with hot water and decent drainage. Moving around: There's a drinkable water station a few minutes away, next to the "IL Porto restaurant", you can refill your bottles there. There's also an amazing restaurant 15 minutes away called "Psiris", go there for dinner. However, without a scooter or a car, nothing else is really a walking distance. Neither the beach, and the touristic areas, and the crags to climb. If you look for a place that is chill and not in the middle of the touristic areas, definitely choose Mela studios. I give this place a...
Read moreWe had our room at Mela Studio cancelled by mistake by airbnb. Luckily Evdokia still had another room available and she prepared it promptly for us. The room was very lovely and clean with a nice little balcony. The house itself is in a very quiet little area- still only a short scooter ride from many nice beaches. There is a big supermarket 3 min walk from the apartment and Evdokia was making sure the apartment would get cleaned everyday. I highly recommend this accommodation and thank you Evdokia for all your help and kindness! (I forgot to mention she picked us up on arrival and insisted to drop us off when we were leaving- although it was very early in...
