Mely — Hotel in Municipality of Kythira

Very nice room with a partial view to the sea and Chora. Very comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and spacious, with stone floor and nice colours. The bathroom had been recently renovated and it was very practical. There was a nice balcony we used for breakfast in the morning and relaxation at night. The surroundings were very nice, with plants and flowers. Really nice to stay there. The staff was very polite, pleasant and helpfull. The location is ideal too: close to the beach and the restaurants and yet above the road so as to avoid noise. Super value for money. Things we didn't like: a) the incline to reach the rooms (not a big deal though -just 15 meters), b) the lack of some kind of tent in the balcony in order to prevent sunlight from heating the room (at noon and in the afternoon), c) although high-quality, the furniture needed some sort of care, d) the refrigerator needed defrosting, e) the wooden window covers had no wholes and when we closed them, not sufficient amount of air could enter the room (I don't know of there is any sort of local restrictions regarding the traditional architecture that might dictate this). This hotel is in a perfect location if you are staying in Kapsali -- an easy walk to the beach and restaurants, and great views from the rooms. The rooms have all the basic necessities as well as kitchenettes. Very friendly staff. Downsides: Impossible for handicapped visitors as there is a very steep driveway and lots of stairs. The showers are tiny. We stayed in a maisonnette room that is two levels with a spiral staircase. I fell down the staircase twice due to slippery plastic covers on the stairs, so that...

I stayed at Mely with my family for 6 nights during our summer holiday. Mely is located very close to the beach and to a variety of restaurants and bars/cafes. Thee rooms are really comfortable and bright. I believe that the best thing about Mely is its personnel. Dimitris and Aris (aka "The director") are very friendly and helpful.
