Mistreatment
We visited this restaurant twice, spending €100 on lunch during our first visit. The fresh fish was tasty, though overpriced for a Greek tavern. The owner was friendly, which encouraged us to return.
However, during our second visit, our experience was quite different. After waiting patiently for a table, the owner offered us a table for four. When we clarified again that we will be only two, he replied that “if you won’t have fresh fish it doesn’t justify the bigger table” (75euros a kilo so it would be a high bill again). When I made it clear that we planned to order pasta instead of the expensive fresh fish, he told us we can’t sit then to the bigger table, and he tried to seat us outside of the restaurant area, next to the rubbish. We found this treatment disrespectful, especially as returning customers who had already spent a significant amount. We never asked for that table and we were willing to wait as long as it needed.
We decided to go to the nearby fish tavern “Trattamento” and have a very nice full dinner with wine and less expensive sitting in front row.
It became clear that the owner prioritizes high-spending customers over providing a pleasant dining experience for all. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression, and we can't recommend this...
Read moreThe service in this place was really good. The view by the sea was also very good. However when it comes to the food, i have to admit i was disappointed, mostly about the food - price relation. The dishes didn't taste bad, however they were extremely expensive for what you paid.
The stuffed calamari cost 17 euro and the stuffing was disappointingly simplistic, with only some feta cheese and fresh tomato cut in small pieces. The risotto i got was also around 17 euro, however the rice was overcooked, the wrong variety, and a little bit bland. The fish carpaccio we got was overly salty and way too little for 15 euro.
I wish i could put a better rating for the food, but with these prices, i expect something more than just very average food that i could eat at another place...
Read moreDuring our 5 night stay in Kythera, we dined on two occasions at this family run taverna by the sea. It has a tasteful, & lovely decor as you dine al fresco. Pretty much all the staff are family. There is a couple preparing all the meals with their team, as well as their two daughters who are serving.
Greek comfort foods, delicious tastes, & a nice assortment of local fresh fish. As well a very nice accompaniment of very good Greek wines.
Our experience was so good, that we returned a few days later. A beautiful view of the kapsali harbour. A family restaurant that we enjoyed both visits. Tremendous people, I would highly recommend.
Thank you for a a great...
