Hotel Elefteria — Hotel in Municipality of Leros

Today I arrived as part of a group of 4 to stay 2 nights at this hotel. It came with good recommendations of this and other sites.|On arrival we found the car park to be 300m away from hotel and also required a walk up a very steep hill leading to an even steeper ramp to get to the lift which takes guests to reception on the top floor. Three things were noticeable befit entering the hotel. 1. There was a stream of dirty water running down the slope which seemed to have been running there fir quite some time as it had discoloured the paving. 2. There was a dead bird lying at the entrance to the lift. 3. There was a strong urine/like smell in the lift.|On teaching the top floor, we were met by disarray! Furniture was strewn all over, the plastic "grass" used to create the roof garden was upended. Buckets, mops etc were in evidence suggesting that cleaning was in progress. Broken pieces of wood were strewn all over.|On entering the premises, a nice lady seemed confused by our presence. Having explained that we had booked for 2 nights, she said she would contact the owner. While waiting fir him to arrive, we noted that the curtains were pulled down on places, half closed and half open. There was a box of wooden logs in the middle of the floor as well as a plastic bag of pine cones!|We waited 10/15 mins for the owner to arrive by which time the condition of the couches, stained and shoddy, had become apparent.|It was evident that the hotel was not ready for guests and would need a lot of work before it would be. |When the owner arrived we explained that for 2 reasons we did not wish to stay as reserved. Firstly, it was clear to us that the hotel was not ready. His response was that his information showed that we were not due until 12 March for 2 nights as opposed to the confirmation we had received confirming our booking for 11 & 12 March. He claimed that it would have been ready had we turned up in accordance with his information! |Secondly when it was pointed out to him that nowhere in the information about the hotel did it state that it was totally unsuited to anyone with restricted mobility and as one of our party was on crutches, it would be impossible for her to access the hotel safely, the owner became aggressive and belligerent. He would not accept that the steep climb through slimy water from the street to the lift area and the even steeper ramp from the concrete to the lift door woukd challenge most people.|He stated that whatever choice we made was our own choice but he would not refund the payment as we had not given the required cancellation notice of 3 weeks despite the fact that by his own account, the hotel was not due to be ready for guests until 12 March!|Our experience was distasteful and upsetting. It is noteworthy that on relating our experience to a number of island residents subsequently, they were dismayed that we had considered staying there given the ongoing and known problems experienced by many others who stayed there in the past. |On a positive note, there is a wonderful view from the rooftop of the surrounding area including the castle. The lady who met us also seemed to be nice.|Despite those 2 positives, we were relieved to walk away from an angry owner who lectured us on his position as "boss" of the establishment with over 30 years experience in the hotel business. It was untidy, unclean, shabby, chaotic and totally unsuited to anyone with restricted mobility. I wonder what this "boss" has gained from his 30+ years experience if he considers abusing customers and accusing them of arriving a day earlier than the confirmation verified is acceptable?|A chaotic, unclean and...

General description It's a problem when you list things that you "offer" that you can't actually provide to your customer.

Pros Very nice roof view, you can see the castle and the mills. The bar and the pool seem nice though we didn't use them. Cleaning of the room was daily or every 2 days (though some of the new "clean" settings had marks on them). Hotelier was typical at his "serving duties" but I can't say I felt comfortably and hospitably with him.

Cons Wifi connection was terrible plus we couldn't have phone signal in our room, so our phones were almost useless in there. Rooms listed as "studios" or "appartments" had 3 single beds each and we weren't informed about that before the reservation. So when we arrived as a couple and faced no double bed, it was quite a bad surprise. We tried to join 2 single beds using a blanket inbetween but the matrices weren't the same. So the one was higher than the other. Generally the beds were different. The "provided" kitchen was actually only 2 hot plates. No oven or vent and very few cookware. Very bad lightning, there wasn't even a lamp over the "kitchen". Very few sockets. Also a confusement with the current provided when the room is locked. It was supposed to prevent current from any device apart from the refrigerator which was not the truth. TV screen was quite small and there was no way that 3 people could watch at it (as it was supposed to be).

Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are informed and have no problem with the...

We have stayed here for 4 nights, except the location and the view the experience we had was really bad. 1- there is a lift taking u to reception which is not working almist after 23:00 pm, u have to claim up 30+ stairs.2- furnishment in the reception& breakfast area is really old and dirty, don’t be fooled w/ the pictures very disorganized and dirty surroundings w/ mock up grass. 3- they are charging 6€ for a very basic breakfast; tea/ coffee with a salty water ( which u will be faced in the room as tap water) , 1 type of cheese, ham, eggs which is boiled yesterday, tomato& olives. Also they charge the drinks seperately! 4- i keep the worst to the last; the room. My husband had all over his body ant/ insect iching bites. They are all over your beds, i had to clean up my luggage from them. The lights are broken, and there is no ac in all rooms( if u are staying 2 room apartment) and there is no wire fence/ netting in the windows so u are left either insect bites or boiling hot in the room over the night!. The tap water is so salty that u can not even wash your mouth let alone having shower. Ah water in the shower is so thiny that u have to spent good 15 min to clean up ur shampoo! ||So, there are better places in the island for location and service....
