Me and 3 my friends, we had been living in Lino Mare hotel for the period of 12/09/2015 - 19/09/2015. And this is our opinion.||||Actually, I do not understand people who complain about the hotels of 3. This hotel is very good considering it as the 3 hotel because many people did not see the horrible rooms that are proposed in other 3* or even 4* hotels. ||||We lived in the room 204, our friends - 107. Rooms are big, comfortable. The bed is really great, I slept as a child :) The personal is really kind. Antonis, the owner, is not the kindest person in the world but he is fine, he answered all our questions, helped us with directions, gave us as much plates and cup as we asked him. I think that the key to success in any situation - is to be the normal polite person and people will ou what you ask them about.||||Francheska, the cleaning woman, is really unbelievable. Just be polite with her and she will make your room the best you've ever seen - clean, fresh and comfortable. Our room was cleaned every day except of Sunday. This day the room are not to be cleaned.||||Several advises for the future tourists:||1. Do not take the breakfast. We took the RO variant and we are really amazed with this because Cretan kitchen is an wonderful thing - you have to try it! And the breakfast in the tavern Petousis - opposite the Lino Mare - is about 7 euro. Important moment - Cretan dishes are big enough. Me and my husband we took 1 portion for 2 persons and it was more than enough for us.||2. Rent a car. The location of he hotel is extremely good because you can easily reach any point of the island. ||3. Try Cretan vine. It is really good.||4. Visit the South of the island. We did not visit the Santorini as we were advised. But the South has amazing nature. Really. And taking a car will save your money substantially. Just to compare - the Knossos Palace excursion was about 40 euro if I'm not mistaking. So - 80 euro for 2 persons. And the 3-day rent for the car was 110 euro for 3 days for 2 persons for us. Generally, Car with gas for us amounted to 220 euro.||5. Visit home winery - Stilianou. It has WONDERFUL vines and olive oil. We bought about 10 bottles.||6. Read moreThis is the small hotel in Amoudara village near Heraklion city. ||The great location - on the main street, the beach 150 m., the good tavern is opposite, the bus stop - 15 m.||Our room was big, clean and cool, had the big balcony||The design of rooms made in the minimal style: white wall and ceiling, the wooden furniture.||There is the small kitchen zona with the refrigerator and sink (but no plates and dishes. Why?)||AC is working good, WiFi is not bad. No sound from another rooms and the street (if you close the balcony door)||The breakfast is frugal and a la carte (it's strange).||There is the beautiful relaxing arena on the roof with the small pool and bar. But the pool is dirty and bar doesn't work. I didn't see any cleaning in the room for 4 days. And I didn't see any staff:) Only the owner Nicolas - unfriendly man with a hoarse voice. He was the receptionist, waiter and etc. in the one face. In the afternoon we didn't find anybody in the hotel for ask. Maybe this the crisis? ...bad time for this hotel I think. ||Be attentive! Read moreThe hotel is nice overall, but we had a night of overbooking and they relocated us in a "similar" hotel nearby into a mouldy room. They offered as compensation a triple room for the rest of the holiday but we asked for the refund of the first night and the room we payed for for the rest of the vacation!
They say that this is common in the high season so please be aware of this!
Also the gentleman at the reception was not even sorry about the situation, he kept on telling us that this is normal and they did their part of "compensation"! For us it was not normal, it ruined our first night of vacation and we barely slept in that "similar" room.
The hotel is nice overall but with such service and overbooking problems I definitely would not recommend it! Maybe they will learn to treat their customers right and not ruin their vacation beacuse of their mistakes of...
