If the hotel cost was refundable we would have gone to another hotel the very next day. ||This hotel has a rating of 3 stars but is 2 at best. I think the only reason it may have been given 3 stars is the pool and proximity to the beach. The hotel is very outdated and in need of a lot of maintenance work. It is filled with a large amount of "knick knacks" and gives off a very creepy vibe especially as there were very few lights on and it was dark. I suppose they are trying to save power costs.||We had a "triple room" which was quite small and the mattresses hard. We have travelled in many countries and this was the worst shower we have ever had and there were cockroaches every night in the bathroom. Reading previous reviews this was an issue as far back as 6 years ago. We should have read these review before booking.||When we arrived at 7:30 pm there were hardly any lights on and the taxi driver dumped us in the driveway not even going around to the poorly lit reception. We were greeted by Mr Tsagarakis, with his mother sitting on watching the proceedings. He proceeded to give us a 20 minute lecture about the hotel, he bristled when interrupted, including detailed instructions on how to operate the air con remote control.||While adequate the breakfast was meagre with processed ham, cheese slices, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes (which were very tasty) and bread. Toast was not and option until asked for and then was barely toasted at all.||Mr Tsagarakis was a nice person and gave some very helpful advice but the whole vibe is very weird. The woman who seemed to do all the work of breakfast, cleaning and room servicing was very lovely.||All in all a very surreal experience that we will be sharing for...
Read moreI’ve been lucky enough to spend one week at Tsagarakis Beach Hotel, overlooking the beautiful Ammoudara beach.
I have no words to describe the beauty of this place.
Located literally 2 minutes walking from the beach, it’s not far from the city centre.
I’ve been able to reach by bus the main attractions (such as the amazing Archeological Museum, the Knossos palace, etc.).
Upon my arrival, my friend and I have been warmly welcomed by Mr Tsagarakis, who’s been a great host since the real first moment until the end of our staying. Always smiling, always friendly and ready to help, providing suggestions and support.
All the other members of the staff have been very kind and nice too. The lady who arranged the breakfast was always making sure that everything would be perfect.
Being vegan myself, I was concerned re the breakfast. But the lovely owner of the hotel made sure that I would find something suitable for me every day.
Mr Tsagarakis’ mother is a very friendly lady too: she always gifted us with delicious biscuits and home made treats.
Supermarkets and several restaurants are located just minutes away, at a walking distance.
Also, the swimming pool is very clean and quite big.
I would recommend the Tsagarakis Beach hotel to relatives and friends and I’ll definitely...
Read moreTsagarakis Beach Hotel is more of a high-rise bed and breakfast with direct access to the beach. The building itself feels quite dated, no elevator and a confusing way to enter from the main gate, though the hosts are exceptionally pleasant, welcoming, and very accommodating.||Beach access is excellent, but amenities come with some limitations. Air conditioning is charged per day, and during our stay it was not functioning, so we relied on a hotel supplied fan instead. Mosquitos can also be an issue. The hotel provides a plug-in repellent at check-in, which is thoughtful but underscores the challenge.||The location is convenient for groceries, with a great store nearby, though restaurant options in the immediate area are limited. For more variety, taking Bus Route 6 west will bring you to a wider selection of restaurants and cafés. Only a breakfast buffet is provided, with cold cuts, tomatoes, bread (no toaster), feta, oranges, cereal, coffee and tea. ||Overall, if you are looking for a simple place with friendly hosts, a suitable pool and great beach proximity, this property may suit your needs. Just be prepared for some quirks and a more basic experience than a...
