To be honest the first impression was not that good. We had to call a few minutes before arriving as the owner did not live on the property. One reviewer had called it a scam, though that seemed to be just the result of a misunderstanding. A few bells were ringing and we were “on alert.”||The fact that Galotel Agnoudas had a board with its name and phone number was a bit reassuring, and when the owner showed us in, the place was clean, neat, tidy, with all that we needed for our short stay before catching a flight at the airport next morning. Also the two cats were friendly to receive scritches. I reckon that says something about the place.||The room was big enough and the beds — two single and two bunks — were comfortable. All was spotlessly clean. Toiletries were provided. The shower worked well. There was a small fridge, though we didn't use it.||I had to return a hire car at the airport. The owner offered to guide me there and bring me back. He also took me to the petrol station and was willing to support me if there was any issue at the car hire — luckily there wasn't, but he was willing.||For an evening meal we walked into the town centre, about 500m away. We used Tripadvisor to find a restaurant, but it had become an English language school, so that was no good. Then to find another restaurant but it was closed that day. Finally we just wandered and ended up at the Novo, which did a tasty meal for two at a good price. The town is not particularly pretty but it is bustling with life.||The owner drove us to the airport at 0400 to catch our flight.||I don't often give glowing reviews but Galotel Agnoudas...
Read moreWe had an overnight stay in Athens before transferring to Santorini. Rather than going all the way to the City I wanted to stay close to the airport. Agnoudas is a 10-15 minute drive from ATH and they will pick you up if requested at a very reasonable price (€15 each way). The town I. Which they are located is small and easy to walk around. The guesthouse itself is nothing fancy but definite suitable to stay at. ||We were in an upstairs room with a semi private balcony. The room had everything we needed, and was clean. The bed was fairly hard, but that is my only complaint. ||Gaelle and Sotiris are wonderful hosts. Sotiris picked us up at the airport and gave us an overview of the area on the way to the guesthouse. ||Gaelle cooks a wonderful traditional Greek dinner if you pre arrange (which I recommend).||They also operate a small bakery at the back of the guesthouse and Sotiris and I sat and had a great conversation in the morning before he took us back to the airport. What really stands out about booking here is the genuine care that they offer their guests. Any host could learn from Sotiris and Gaelle. We are very grateful that we came across Agnoudas and booked...
Read moreWe stayed one night at the guest house on our way back home to Boston. The guest rooms are above Sotiris' home and in a safe neighborhood, 5 minutes walking distance from the center of town where you will find nice cafes and small restaurants. (Sotiris and his wife own the bakery behind the guest house but it was closed since it was Sunday.) Sotiris picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, which was well worth the extra fee for a stressless ride to the guest house. We also ordered the delicious and plentiful dinner made by his wife, which we enjoyed eating on the balcony. The room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. In the room there was a kettle, coffee and small treats but you have to bring your own bottled water if you don't feel comfortable drking the tap water. Sotiris is excellent at communicating via the phone and he and his wife are...
