We just arrived home after a week stay in this lovely villa. One week was not enough. This home is a lovingly restored castle with modern amenities. If you like Gaudi design, you will definitely enjoy the unusual and unexpected characteristics of this historic home. The decor in the home is traditional Greek style, comfortable and spotlessly clean. ||||We arrived in Naxos with our adult children and grandson to celebrate a family wedding and from the moment we pulled into the driveway, our hosts could not have been more welcoming. The family is available on site, unobtrusive and extremely gracious and helpful in every aspect of the stay. Each morning we awoke to the offer of Greek coffee and delicous pita or fresh egg omelets. We hosted a family dinner in the garden and our hosts referred us to the local taverna whose helpful staff delivered a delicious Greek meal. Our hosts helped us plan, set up and decorate for a memorable dinner, even having staff place extra lights in the garden to set the ambience.||||The home has a lovely garden with fruit laden trees. The roosters awaken you in the morning and you can walk down the driveway to visit the goats. Restful yet striking views of the agricultural valley and a peek of the Aagean Sea are available from the three lovely decks. Melodious birds and insects lull you to sleep each evening after a refreshing swim in the gorgeous pool. Each room is appointed with a comfortable bed, crisp linens, an imaginative cave shower and a well stocked kitchenette. The vibrant colors of each area of the home create a light-hearted and playful mood. The decor is charming and authentic, simple and uncluttered creating a peaceful retreat in which to relax. ||||I recommend renting a car, as the location of the home is a bit "off the beaten path" (adding to the charm). It will take you 15-20 minutes to drive into the port city and the enchanting beaches. The sea with a beach is less than a mile from the home, but we did not have a chance to visit. The location added to the excitement and experience of traditional Greek island life. Each of our kids loved the Cave house, thank you to Anastasia, George and Katherine for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime. The kids told us it was the "best vacation ever".||||Date of arrival ...
Read moreYou HAVE to come to Georgillas cave house! Most unique and fantastic experience in Naxos! We were greeted by the sweetest Mother Katerina with homemade lemonade. The houses are super unique and have an lovely eloquent style. The pictures are very true to how it looks - but better. Also, there is a Jacuzzi on the roof! Very cool to watch the Greek starlit sky in the warm bubble in the cool evening air. The pool is crystal clear. ||||You wake up to chirping crickets in the morning, surrounded by the Greek Olive Trees. For 10 euros more per person you get to receive a delicious and very full breakfast: Greek Pies, FRESH omelette (the chicken who laid the egg might pass by!), Greek yoghurt and fruits with a fresh fruit juice squeezed from the garden. You eat surrounded by the trees in the farmyard environment. Such an idyllic way to wake up, and Katerina adjusted to our timeline.||||We checked out quite late because we did not want to leave! Katerina was very relaxed and sweet, rather than shunning us out, she brought us homemade date juice by the pool. Going to Agia Anna or a touristic after in Naxos, after the experience here will truly hurt your heart. If you want to be in GREECE, come here, not those overdone beachfronts.||||We spent a day on what felt like a private beach: Amitis beach, which is a 20 minute walk from the Hotel. We visited the olive museum also about 20 minutes walk the other way. Also there is a guide of the island on their website which I reccommend using, that is how we found authentic local food. We ate twice at Platia which is a 7 minute walk from the Hotel - the best food we had in all of Greece. You cannot go wrong when Grandma is the chef. ||||We debated coming here because it was a little 'splurge' for us - and we have zero regrets. It was the best money spent in all of Greece, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Many thanks to Katerina and her lovely staff for making us...
