Wonder-woman is not just a Marvel charterer"||||The Mrs and I’s recent holiday to Crete was meant to be some serious R&R after a recent bereavement and work pressures. We scanned the internet via AirB&B and came across this delightful villa which is part of a small boutique hotel called Metohi Georgila, owned and run by Areti and her parents along with supporting smiles from her two beautiful and well behaved young daughters. To say we had a few issues getting to the villa would be an understatement, not because it’s hard to find or anything to do with Areti far from it it was all to do with the UK bank systems being down and rental cars …….. I digress. Anyway we eventually arrived and were warmly greeted by Areti and introduced to a fantastically well-presented villa complex. ||||Areti speaks the most amazing English and explained all about the villa, local area and which restaurant’s where best to savour. The Villa is well proportioned and decorated in a modern yet regionally sympathetic style with every possible amenity including little extras of homemade cordial and biscuits. The rooms were immaculately clean and I am a bit of a perfectionist. The rooms all have vaulted ceilings and there was not a cobweb in sight. ||||On our third day Areti even phoned the local vehicle hire shop and managed all the negotiation for us. We hired the bike and had two days of great fun but on the third day we were unfortunately involved in a serious accident, resulting in severe bruising to my chest and my good lady badly breaking two bones in one leg. This is when Areti AKA as Wonder-woman came in to being. She was devastated once she heard the news and within two hours later she was then in the hospital by our side (some 25Km away from the villa). With her came clean clothes, homemade snacks and a selection of toiletries all at her own expense. She then spent many hours comforting and consoling and just holding my Mrs’s hand even when she was asleep. ||||For the next 8 days Wonder-woman as I will now refer to Areti from now on it, came every day and spent 2/3 hours with us just to make sure we had everything we needed and to help with the language translation in order to make our experience of Greek Healthcare more straightforward. Note…. Please get travel insurance as Greece does not have the NHS, is extremely limited in resources but does have an experienced medical team. We owe many thanks for the warm respect and technical care shown to us. ||||Back to Wonder-woman, her family and their beautiful home open for you all to share. A heart felt thank you for all your support and your love. You are now a friend for life. We have remained in daily contact since returning to the UK and are planning to return to her fantastic villa with our close family and friends next year to get married and have the party of a life time with her and her gorgeous girls. We are staying at this absolutely beautiful property right now. We have booked the apartment Agapi for 9 nights through Expedia/ Vbro which was by far the best price. We are so happy to have booked this place. Authentic crecian Villa with outbuildings . They have 5 different size apartments. It’s a Boutique Aparthotel. No food provided but all apartments have a kitchen. There was some appreciated welcome items such as juice, water , tea, coffee and fresh fruit from their own garden. The apartment is kitted out and has a lovely private terrace. Everything is very clean . The smell of flowers and herbs is divine. Yes, there is the highway close by and you can hear it a little, but it does not spoil the experience of this beautiful special place. You will need a rental car. And it’s only a five minute drive down to the main coast road. Another highlight is the ginger cat who loves to pop in for a treat 🐱. The owners live in the main house , a very friendly elderly couple. You see him around, watering plants, cleaning around the pool early morning. Their daughter runs the place and is easily available on WhatsApp . I can wholeheartedly recommend this place if you are looking for a tranquil authentic away from the crowds...

Wenn ich morgens um 8 Uhr das Appartment zum joggen verlasse, hat Aretis Vater schon die Gartenanlage bewässert und spielt mit seinen 2 zuckersüßen Enkeltöchtern. Oma sitzt irgendwo zwischen den Blumenbeeten und sorgt hier für Ordnung. Maria (die gute Seele des Hauses und meine Chance auf ein paar Worte deutsch) hat schon Jasminblüten für uns gesammelt, einfach weil sie gesehen hat, dass wir dies tun. Nach 50 Metern begrüßt mich ein kleiner Hund (jeden Morgen) und läuft 150 meter mit, bis ihm klar wird, das ich nicht zu seiner Schafherde gehöre... ;)||Vom Joggen am Strand zurück (einen Kilometer bergauf - grmpf ) gehts in den Pool - fast immer allein, irgendwie hat man immer das Gefühl man muss sich nichts teilen und das gesamte Equipment und Personal ist exklusiv für einen selbst. Wer will kann die hauseigenen Fitnessgeräte nutzen - eine Multistation und ein Klimmzug/Beugestützgerät.||Danach entdecke ich meistens, dass doch wieder neue Gäste angekommen sind (sehr international) auf ihrer Terrasse frühstückend oder ebenfalls losziehend zur sportlichen Betätigung. Diese ist auch angeraten, da man aufgrund des unglaublich guten Essens unweigerlich mit 4 kg mehr auf den Hüften durch die Sicherheitskontrolle am Flughafen geht !||Harris kennt jedes gute Restaurant im Umkreis von 50 km, sodass es eigentlich keinen Grund gibt, sich in Platanias in die Touristenfallen locken zu lassen - außer man will das. Er kennt ebenfalls die meisten Strände - wir mittlerweile auch. ||Aufgrund der excellenten WIFI-SItuation (jedes Zimmer mit eigenen Account, Pool und Haupthaus nochmal extra) sind auch Videos machbar, zum arbeiten auf jeden Fall sensationell für Hotelverhältnisse (eigener Speedtest: 8Mbit download)||Abends von Ausflügen zurück hat Areti häufig irgendwas leckeres auf dem Tisch hinterlassen ( Obst, irgendwas Gebackenes), und wenn nicht - plündern im Garten ist ausdrücklich erwünscht. ||Das ganze Areal ist hoch umzäunt , es gäbe nicht einmal einen Grund die Autoschlüssel abzuziehen. Auf dem Weg (30m) vom Auto bis zum Zimmer hab ich schnell noch 2 Mandarinen vom Baum gepflückt.||Die Lage der Zimmer ist etwas genauer zu betrachten - in AGAPI wurde ich morgens von den Fegegeräuschen des Reisigbesens sanft geweckt, mit dem Maria den Hof bis zur Perfektion reinigt ( wer das nicht will macht das Fenster zu oder schläft fester) das Frühstück kann man auf der Terrasse in der Morgensonne genießen und (wie ich) durch smalltalk Maria von arbeiten abhalten ;) . In ARIADNI ist man in der ersten Etage, man muss täglich Treppen laufen und sich einen Wecker stellen - sonst verschläft man eben die wertvolle Zeit zwischen 8 und 9, in der die Sonne einem nicht zu brutal vom Laufen abhält. Der Balkon ist das Highlight - Frühstück im Schatten mit Vogelgezwitscher und Blick auf das Meer.||Wenn man mit mehr als 2 Personen anreist hat man in den anderen Apartments ganz unterschiedliche Besonderheiten, auf die man sich freuen kann.||Die Lage der Anlage ist strategisch perfekt, da man sowieso ein Auto braucht um die ganzen leckeren Restaurants anzufahren bzw die schönen Strände zu erreichen. Die nahe gelegene InterRoad hört man zwar auch auf dem Gelände, aber sowie eine Schwalbe Taube oder Zikade sich meldet ist das bereits übertönt. Dafür hat man die Westküste in 30 min und Chania Oldtown in 15 min erreicht. Einziger Wermutstropfen für Leute, die morgens gleich ins Meer ( und nicht in den perfekten, sehr augenfreundlichen chlorarmen Pool) springen wollen - man muss 10 Minuten laufen. ||Ich fühle mich hier so erholt, dass ich mich schon wieder beim arbeiten...
