If you have found your way all through to the east coast of Crete to Kato Zakros, this is the place to stay. The hotel, or more correctly studios, are run by George, a very nice and friendly man. It seems that he has thought of everything regarding this place, one example is the Mulberry trees that servs as shade for the cars. Speaking of Mulberries, if you arrive in mid June you as are free to pick Mulberries from the trees. He also produce his own wine, apricot and figs. In the evening you can sit on the terrace and see the stars and maybe the milky way. The place itself are just a short walk from the beach and taverna. We stayed for three nights at Kato Zakros Palace Apartments and weren't disappointed.An amazing view from our balcony which encompassed the bay,Minoan ruins and the beginning of "Gorge of the Dead"|Is a short walk to the beach and tavernas.Also the ruins and beginning or end of the gorge.|The studio apartment was one of the best we have found in our travels around Eastern Crete.Particularly appreciated the shower door as have had trouble with water spraying out through curtains into bathroom!The rooms are cleaned daily.|The owner(George?)was very helpful when we arrived and showed us various places on his map.|The apartments are set in a nice garden and we were allowed to eat the numerous grapes|I would recommend...

We originally planned to stay for 2 nights but extended to 3 because we loved it so much! The apartment was clean, well-designed and equipped and extremely comfortable. We had a huge balcony area which was totally private with a breathtaking view down across Kato Zakros to the sea and the remains of the Minoan palace, as well as the stunning Gorge of the Dead. The local restaurants are a 10 stroll away, next to the beach.
