Taverna Glaros — Restaurant in Municipality of Sitia

We spent a week in Kato Zakros in May 2025 and had dinner at the Glaros Taverna on 5 evenings. We also had breakfasts there on 3 mornings. Every meal was perfectly prepared and presented with great friendship by Yorgos and Christina. Yorgos cooks all the meals in his kitchen while Christina serves her guests like they are her family. Kato Zakros has a row of very good tavernas and of those, Glaros is certainly the smallest. But it is also the one where you will find the warmest and most personal welcome and genuine traditional Greek food in a lovely location. Das Inhaber-Ehepaar war sehr, sehr nett. Die kleine Taverne hat eine tolle Lage, direkt in der Bucht von Kato Zakros. Man kann drinnen und draußen sitzen. Sowohl von innen als auch vor allen Dingen von draußen hat man einen direkten Blick auf den Strand und das Meer in der Bucht von Kato Zakros. Die Speisekarte ist in der Saison sehr umfangreich mit etlichen griechischen Speisen und auch Frühstück Angeboten. Im Dezember war das Angebot ein wenig reduziert. Die Preise sind für diese tolle Lage sehr günstig. Egal was wir hier gegessen haben, sei es Moussaka, Ziege aus dem Ofen, Schweinefleisch mit Artischocken und Kartoffeln nach kretischer Art, grüne Bohnen, Hackfleisch, Bohnensuppe, gegrilltes Lamm, Hähnchen und vieles mehr hat ganz hervorragend geschmeckt. Die Portionen waren für unsere Begriffe relativ groß. Es gab eigentlich fast immer einen kleinen Gruß aus der Küche vor dem Essen, oder auch eine komplette Vorspeise und zum Nachtisch immer entweder etwas Obst oder Gebäck oder Süßigkeiten. Natürlich durfte der obligatorische Raki nicht fehlen. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und können diese Taverne uneingeschränkt...

Se state cercando un posto semplice, con vista mare e prezzi estremamente onesti questa taverna fa per voi. Nella via ci sono tanti ristoranti ma questo è il più piccolo e forse il più unico, a conduzione familiare e con un proprietario dolcissimo! abbiamo scelto gli unici pesci freschi che aveva perchè, ci ha spiegato, il resto erano congelati a causa dell'assenza di quelle specie nel loro mare.... sia pesce che il resto che abbiamo preso erano ottimi, sapori semplici ma autentici, tutto cucinato dalla nonna 🥹 ben cucinati con cura anche nell'impiattamento. Ci è stata offerta la frutta a fine pasto :) Abbiamo preso 4 piatti (super abbondanti) 2 birre medie, due acque grandi, 2 caffè freddi e abbiamo speso SOLO 34euro I tavolini sono super carini e sono in riva al mare! secondo me assolutamente meglio degli altri ristoranti più turistici...
