Our stay in Sparta was a last minute decision - we'd passed through it on the way to Monemvasia and once we saw the magnificent Teygetus mountains we decided to come back. We only had one night but 2 days here but it was fantastic. The hotel is centrally located and we had the opportunity to see quite a bit including Ancient Sparta, the statue of Leonidio, the Olive Museum, the ancient ruins within the city such as the baths and triconch church, the cathedral, wandering the interesting streets and just generally soaking up the atmosphere. We were also given instructions on how to visit Mystras which is an absolute must! If getting a taxi, get them to take you to the top and then allow 2 hours to walk down. Magnificent!||||When we arrived at the hotel we were given a map with the key points of interest to visit and this was an absolute Godsend.||||The room was modern and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the main street. Breakfast was fantastic with a good choice of breakfast options.||||The staff were fantastic - very friendly and helpful and I'd definitely recommend the...
Read moreI spent two nights at the Lakonia, as I arrived early in Sparta. My reservation for the next week was at a different hotel. After two nights, I certainly didn’t want to leave! Magnificent old building, right on the Main Street, one block from the town plaza. No need to touch your car. The entire staff is warm and helpful. I’m afraid I will get her name wrong but Kiki? Was a delight, giving me directions and drawing me maps. Thomas was fantastic! He invited me to his gym and I was able to exercise with actual Spartans for two nights. He told me places to go visit, how to get there, gave me history lessons. I can’t say enough about him. His lovely wife and beautiful daughter were a charm too! It’s not often that you rent a room and leave with a great friend but I did and you can too! I’ll be...
Read moreWe stayed for four nights and were efficiently booked in by front desk staff. One young lady in particular, Angela Spiliakos was most friendly and helpful. Our bedroom and bathroom were small but clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin and we were kept awake until the early hours by very noisy guests next door. Also had a balcony looking out onto the main street which surprisingly was not too noisy. Note there is free Wifi but no parking so you have to get lucky and find parking in the side streets. Shops and restuarants are within walking distance and the famous Mystras Pantannasa Monastary is minutes away by car. A definite seven out of ten rating and would consider staying...
