Black Bay Cave Suites — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

They cancelled the day before our trip. We booked 6 months in advance and had corresponded only the week before about checking in. They said they overbooked. If that’s true, why wait until the day before to cancel on me? I don’t believe them.

I had to find alternative accommodation the day before our flight. Accommodation in Santorini is not cheap if you are booking the day before!! And obviously all the options are hugely limited. Incredibly stressful experience.

They never explained how they managed to overbook. I can’t help but wonder they found someone willing to pay more and deliberately left me in the lurch.

Amazing hotel if you want to be not in the touristic part of the island. Very cozy, the hotel is located on a beautiful black beach. The rooms are clean. There is a very friendly service. The hotel is located quite far from the shops and restaurants, you can go only by car or quad. There is 50 min walk to the first supermarket. The hotel is ideal to take some time off from the rest of the world. Please be aware of that there is a tray cat living outside of the hotel and very annoying. Para una estancia en tranquilidad fuera del bullicio muy bien. Estás alejado del ajetreo y disfrutando del sonido del mar aunque es una playa de piedras y para el baño un poco incómodo y difícil pasear. Necesitas coche para llegar hasta allí y para ir a un supermercado etc. Hay un chiringuito al lado y se come bien. Aunque necesites coche para moverte, las vistas durante el recorrido son impresionantes y encuentras sitios para comer con vistas súper chulas. Sobre las 11 empiezan a llegar embarcaciones que llenan la cala pero a primera hora y al atarceder es una gozada disfrutar de la tranquilidad y las vistas. Cocina básicamente equipada. La habitación acogedora y tienes toallas de playa y champú, gel y acondicionador en el baño. La pega la no organización de hamacas. El 1er día nos invitaron a ocupar las hamacas de abajo, a la mañana siguiente llegó la hija de la dueña quién sin saludar y con gestos feos … Hizo una llamada para que nos dijeran que no podíamos ocupar esas hamacas porque eran para los del apartamento de abajo... Nuestro apartamento (situado arriba) no tiene sombrilla con las hamacas así que no muy confortable para pasar el día. Tal como he leído en otra reseña, la dueña y su hija no están orientadas al servicio. No tienen recepción, es un poco confuso al llegar sino has visto bien la ubicación y las fotos del entorno. Si llegas tarde, no hay iluminación para llegar y un poco trabajoso de llegar con el equipaje. Eso sí disfruta del cielo estrellado.
